"When I was a kid, people wanted to be heroes. They wanted to accomplish things. They wanted to excel.

Today, driven by daytime TV and Israel's own example, people see greater incentive to play the victim, to whine and stay as they are, hoping for sympathy expressed as political or monetary advantage. Constantly, those who play the politics of victimhood insist it is no shame to be a victim, and indeed have crafted a media image that it is somehow heroic. This is not unlike the medieval priests who told the serfs that suffering at the hands of the nobility was the pathway to heaven after death!

But being a victim is not heroic. Fighting to not be a victim is heroic. Being a victim is indeed shameful if one allows oneself to be a victim or even encourages it for political and monetary gain or even because it makes them feel good about themselves to be a victim.

But think on this for a moment. A nation of people who want to be victims is the dictator's dream, because a nation of people who want to be victims will not oppose the dictatorship, because they have been taught to embrace their own slavery as a positive personal trait!" -- Michael Rivero
