The few times this Covid-19 year of seclusion that friends have come over for dinner, they’re horrified to hear me say that I will do whatever I can to prevent the Democrats from winning the election. I was never a big thumper for Donald Trump, and didn’t vote for him in 2016 (or Hillary), but I will this time.

I’m in favor of his policy stands for defending the US border and stopping the flow of illegal migrants, on ending our foolish misadventures in foreign lands, on reducing the government’s stranglehold on private enterprise, and on opposing the matrix of rackets that make up the “DC swamp.” I admire Mr. Trump’s resilience in the face of a relentless assault by “the Intel Community,” the DC cabal of Lawfare seditionists, and the despicable confabulations of The New York Times and other media voices-of-authority captive to the Left.

I still view Mr. Trump as the designated bag-holder for the catastrophe of our economic quandary, but his political opponents would surely make things worse with their crypto-Marxist fantasies of a totalist American nanny-state. Few in any quarter of US leadership understand the long emergency we’ve entered, and most who do are too timid to spell out what it will actually require of us in the way of rigor and fortitude.

But here is my bill of particulars against the Democratic Party and what it has come to represent in recent years (and I write as someone who has remained a registered Democrat since 1972):

When their basic philosophy is not incoherent, it presents as explicit hypocrisy and bad faith. This past week the CDC finally seemed to get fed up with the coronavirus hysteria that has existed in this country since March.

First, the CDC released new guidelines saying there was no need for asymptomatic people to get tested if they were otherwise young and healthy. That’s even if you were exposed to someone who had tested positive for the virus.

Then the CDC put up on their official website the following details for people who have covid symptoms:

“If you have symptoms of COVID-19 and want to get tested, call your healthcare provider first. Most people will have mild illness and can recover at home without medical care and may not need to be tested.”

So, yeah, the CDC is telling you to treat covid like any other illness. Stay home if you’re sick, you’ll probably be fine. That’s because for most people covid is a mild illness. If, however, you get sick enough to need treatment, go seek treatment.

This is the advice we should have had since March. And in retrospect we should have never, ever shut down at all. (In fact, if New York governor Andrew Cuomo hadn’t been the worst political leader this century, we probably wouldn’t have ever panicked in the first place. The actual crime that Blake is accused of committing isn’t often described in any detail, despite the fact that the alleged crime may be relevant to the shooting on Sunday. It potentially speaks to Blake’s state of mind, his character, and his propensity for violence, and it explains why the cops were called in the first place.

According to the criminal complaint, which can be found here, Blake’s ex-girlfriend says that he entered her house uninvited early in the morning on Sunday, May 3, 2020. She reports that she woke to find him in her room, standing over her. What happened next, by the woman’s account, is downright chilling:

The extremes are not visible to the vast majority of participants, and so they are exposed to high levels of risk they don't see or understand.

The question "Is the weather becoming more extreme?" opens up endless debates because our perceptions may differ from actual measurements since we're prone to recency bias, where what happened recently looms much larger than events of a decade or century ago.

In the realm of economics and markets, our perceptions of extremes are backed up with data: based on the ratio of stock valuations to GDP and corporate sales (not profits, because profits are easily gamed) to GDP, the stock market has never been as over-valued as it is today.

The rally in global stocks off the March lows is the steepest such rally ever. The unemployment rate is equally extreme, as is the Federal Reserve's money-printing: $3 trillion has been created out of thin air since February 26 as the Fed's balance sheet rose from $4 trillion to $7 trillion.

Financial/market extremes are becoming more extreme.

The disruptive social and political consequences of systemic unfairness and extreme wealth inequality are still unfolding, as are the global consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Setting aside the specifics, can we discern systemic dynamics that could make extremes become more extreme?

Feedback loops are one such dynamic. Somewhat counter-intuitively, when feedback arises to moderate the intensity of a trend, that's negative feedback. When feedback intensifies the trend, it's positive feedback.

Why is this counter-intuitive? If a bad trend is moderated by negative feedback, that's good (positive). If a bad trend gathers momentum due to positive feedback, that's bad (negative).

When an insect population explodes higher due to ideal conditions, birds and other predators feast on the over-supply, reducing the infestation. This negative feedback moderates the damage inflicted by the infestation......read more.......

The different story that events themselves are telling voters is that young Americans act like savages when given the green light by politicians who refuse to enforce the laws against public violence, theft, and the destruction of property, and who justify all that with a fabricated narrative about systemic racism. Since Memorial Day, the Democratic Party has used the Black Lives Matter and Antifa orgs as shock troops in a stupid campaign aimed at abolishing the police. Well, now America can see exactly what happens when the police get functionally disabled by mayors and governors who order them to not do their primary job: maintaining basic civic order. The voters have seen it in Kenosha, Chicago, New York, Denver, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon.

What were the Democratic Party higher-ups thinking as all this rolled out? That they could keep posing people of color as victims while they ran amok, beat people up, robbed stores, jacked cars, and set buildings on fire? That the mayhem would continue until the nation’s morale improved? If that was actually their campaign strategy, then they’ve successfully burned down their national campaign before it even got underway. Having allowed all this havoc to be set in motion, can they stop it now? I guess we’ll see. Thursday was the first night that rioters failed to turn out in Portland after their epic 93-night siege of public buildings and once-quiet neighborhoods there. Perhaps someone told them they better knock it off in case voters connected the dots between these orchestrated antics and something Mr. Trump might point out in his nationally broadcast acceptance speech.

Street operations continued, however, in Washington DC while Mr. Trump delivered his remarks at the White House. In it, his speechwriters averred pretty crisply to those forces driving to “punish” the “wicked nation” for its sins. Meanwhile, Democratic Party water-carrier Jake Tapper over at CNN howled about the president violating the Hatch Act by using government property (the White House, where he lives) to stage a campaign event — making themselves look ridiculous in the process. When that act ran out of steam, the panel carried on about the assembled audience on the White House lawn not wearing masks as proof of the manifest evil in the GOP ranks. (Then, a BLM mob beset Senator Rand Paul attempting to walk back to his hotel after the speech. DC police had to step in and escort him to safety.)

Earlier on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decreed that there should be no candidates’ debates between Joe Biden and Mr. Trump — though Mr. Biden previously had agreed to it. It looked like Mommy ran out of the basement to save his skin.  That can only confirm how desperate the Party is now, having set their own campaign tent on fire. Expect them to jam Joe Biden back under a rock for the duration. The question is: the duration of what? Virginia State officials are already promising that the corona vaccination will be MANDATORY for all Virginia residents—NO EXCEPTIONS.

State Health Commissioner Dr. Norman Oliver told 8News on Friday that he plans to mandate coronavirus vaccinations for Virginians once one is made available to the public.

Virginia state law gives the Commissioner of Health the authority to mandate immediate immunizations during a public health crisis if a vaccine is available. Health officials say an immunization could be released as early as 2021.

Dr. Oliver says that, as long as he is still the Health Commissioner, he intends to mandate the coronavirus vaccine.

The decision comes after Massachusetts said it would make the flu vaccine mandatory this year as part of a campaign to protect the state's medical system. Deagel.com is apparently some sort of global military intelligence site. They have had an online presence since 2003. They report on high-level military equipment assets and keep track of military expenditures by country “with nearly impeccable numbers”.

One additional aspect of their site is to “forecast” financial outlooks for countries around the world. They track GDP (gross domestic product), defense budgets, and even population (forecasts) for each country.

No one knows for sure, but I’ve read that their sources are “the ‘deep state’ with the CIA, US Department of Defense, US Department of State and World Bank contributing data for their forecasts.”

It’s not speculation to suggest that some key people prosper and even benefit during an economic crisis, however it arrives, as small business owners struggle and large corporations and banks benefit from huge government subsidies, giving them the unfair advantage over the small business they eventually absorb as those businesses fail. Recently, one man shot another in broad daylight in New York City. He was videotaped by a surveillance camera. Not much doubt that the shooter was guilty. He was arrested for attempted murder. He was given No Cash Bail and released back into the community where he engaged in 3 more shootings before being arrested again. Fortunately, the man was a poor shot and nobody died. Depending on the police to protect you, might be a good plan if you live in a city where police budgets weren’t cut. And it would be a good plan except that the DNC platform calls for making No Cash Bail a nationwide law.

Alternatively, you could move to the Hamptons and live with the donors to the Democrat party if you wanted to be safe.

If you lived in California, you would get a third of your electricity from solar energy. That’s great except that you can’t generate electricity from solar at night and on overcast days. They are currently having rolling blackouts so you might have to get a generator from a friend and take it to your dad’s house to power all those life saving medical devices he depends on and to also run the air conditioning as he is near a heat stroke. Now the DNC 2020 platform wants the California energy model to go nationwide. A great plan except that instead of California importing electricity from Texas and Utah it will be the 48 states of the continental US plus DC importing their electricity from Mexico and Canada once Trudeau leaves office. The internal quarrels of the GOP will have to take a backseat to disaster relief. It might be a political blessing for the president, unless he blunders through the event George W. Speaking of BLM, Sunday one Jacob Blake, 29, was apparently shot in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, while getting into a car. The incident inspired a night of BLM rioting and looting in downtown Kenosha, with excellent prospects for violence to spread to other cities. Mr. Blake was hospitalized and survives, so far. He was not complying with police instructions in the process of his arrest. He had been previously arrested in 2015 and charged with brandishing a gun in a barroom. Jamar Nicholson Green learned this the hard way when a trigger happy cop opened fire on him and a group of friends as they freestyle rapped on their way to school. Green and his friends had committed no crime and were unarmed.

The incident unfolded in 2015, but the lawsuit was only recently settled and the taxpayers of LA county will be shelling out nearly $1 million for the negligent and deadly actions of LAPD officer Michael Gutierrez.

Gutierrez — who was not in uniform at the time — saw the children freestyle rapping at the meet-up spot and noticed that one of them was holding a toy gun. This is not the same as some incidents in which the gun resembles an actual gun. This one was clearly marked as a toy with a highly visible orange barrel and did not look like an actual gun at all.

As Courthouse news reported:

Jamar Nicholson Green, then 15, and three of his friends were listening to rap music in an alley a few blocks from their Los Angeles high school. It was the group’s regular meet-up spot for freestyling and rapping before class.
