When President Trump delivered his address on the newly released election-related documents, several major television networks chose not to carry it in full. ABC and NBC declined to air the speech on their broadcast networks. CBS began airing it but cut away before it concluded, while other outlets focused immediately on commentary and fact-checking rather than simply letting viewers watch the entire address for themselves. Whether one agrees with the President or not is beside the point. The public should be able to hear a presidential address in full and make up its own mind. Perhaps the central battleground of contemporary politics is the need of our political elites to control the narrative. Primarily, the role of establishment politicians is not to deliver changes and reforms, not to fix problems identified by people in their everyday lives, and not to change circumstances such that they can attract votes, but to maintain narrative hegemony.
Crucially, this differs from previous attempts to maintain ideological hegemony – that is, to win the societal ‘battle of ideas’ – because ideological warfare was always related to the real world. For example, Stalinism’s ideological success was demonstrated in defeating the Nazi industrial machine at its own game, capitalism defeated communism by offering unparalleled standards of living, social democracy was ideologically effective to the degree it demonstrated you could balance both the demands of organised labour with those of economic growth.
By contrast, the attempt at narrative hegemony treats the political realm purely in the domain of information management. This is a political class that has given up on shaping the world and instead looks to shape the narrative.

The news cycle is full of examples that demonstrate that contemporary elites are concerned, above all, with controlling the narrative. Three suffice.
First, there was the recent confirmation of a story which many people had assumed for a long time, although was widely dismissed as a conspiracy theory. The British government has a special division, run out of Whitehall, called the Research, Information and Communications Unit (RICU). The job of RICU is to intervene with victims of potentially ‘racially inflammatory’ crimes and make sure that they ‘calm community tensions’. You could call this the ‘don’t look back in anger’ unit – its job is to make sure that government, victims and the media all stick to a story which encourages people to avoid asking difficult questions...........more..........

Tou Lue Vang, the man in question, told investigators he raped the girl in question because in his society, this was considered normal. In fact, he told police this was “a mistake,” but “a minor thing,” and he didn’t mean the victim’s age. Apparently, child rape was little more severe than a fender-bender in his mind.
The fact that he didn’t receive a removal order until earlier this year should have been an outrage in and of itself, but what happened next was why we’re still discussing this. The small, leafy, village of Piddington has voted to hold a referendum for independence from the United Kingdom because the government is planning on dumping over 1,000 illegal aliens into the village of just 370 people.
The vote came after the Home Office – the United Kingdom’s lead government department for immigration, passports, homeland security, and law and order – announced in late June that it would convert a vacant military storage facility on the outskirts of the village of Piddington into general accommodation for single men aged 18 to 65.
Needless to say, the residents were not pleased by the news. It did not help matters that despite the significance of the move, no government official came to talk to the villagers before the plans were announced, which smacks of sheer arrogance.
The village of Piddington has no shops, no pubs, and not even a police force. It must rely on outside communities for all of its needs. They have no way of providing any protection for their residents. So this isn’t an asylum seeker issue as far as the townspeople are concerned, it’s about the practical realities regarding how to protect the older people and the kids in the neighborhood from a new presence that promises to be dangerous.
Incredibly, the villagers were told that no women or children would be sent to live with the illegal male migrants because it would not be safe for them. Yet the people of Piddington, without so much as a single police officer, will have to fend for themselves against all odds.........more.........

In books and articles I have written about law, I have emphasized that a law unfolds to the limit of its extent (and so do rules and regulations.) For example RICO and asset forfeiture laws intended to make it easier to convict the Mafia by denying them access to their money, leaving them unable to hire lawyers, unfolded to the extent that police would stop cars and, if drivers had more than $100 in cash, confiscate the cash on the grounds that the amount indicted intention to buy or sell drugs. Perhaps the ultimate example was the police use of a motel room in a drug or prostitution sting. The police then confiscated the motel on the grounds that the motel had facilitated a drug or prostitution crime. RICO laws have even found their way into marriage divorce cases.
As a few Americans might be aware, the liberal-left and Israel, for different reasons, have been working hard to establish a regime of hate speech and to criminalize it. This has already occurred in Britain. There are 13,000 British citizens in prison because their social media tweets were interpreted by authorities as hate crimes.
In the US there is an AIPAC bill before Congress that criminalizes criticism of Israel. Indeed, the association of the First Amendment with hate speech, which is about to be criminalized, is far advanced. I recently reported that a person wearing a t-shirt with the message “bombing kids is not self defense” was told by United Airlines that he could not fly on their airline attired in offensive hate speech. Paying less than $4 for a gallon of gas was nice for the two weeks it lasted. Now it’s back to $4 again and – almost certainly – headed higher since the Strait of Hormuz is closed again, shutting off much of the world’s oil supply. Trump has been using the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to buffer the effects of this, but the SPR is reportedly getting close to being tapped out and when that happens, Trump will no longer be able to buffer the consequences of this stupid, evil war he refuses to end.
Why does he not choose to end it? A number of possible reasons come to mind, all of them stupid and evil. He cannot abide being seen as a “loser” – no matter what it costs us (he himself is not paying any costs and won’t, just like Dr. Fauci and Albert Bourla; the people who cause real harm almost never pay any costs; costs – like taxes – are for the “little people,” as Leona Helmsley once put it). Israel cannot abide the Iranians winning, which they have so far. Iran is a stumbling block in the way of their Greater Israel project and Trump is the Golem put in place to further that project. He may be a willing Golem. It does not matter. What does is that he is a Golem for interests that are not in America’s interests.
The interesting thing is that ending the war would be a win for Trump – and America. Most Americans want the war to end; they want to stop paying the War Tax. Trump would be seen – accurately, this time – as the president who ended a war (even if he did start it). Still, ending is much better than starting – and continuing. If the war really ended – not a temporary pause for a couple of weeks – and predictability replaced chaos, the oil would begin flowing again and the SPR would be refilling. A great sigh of relief could be heard – echoing to the surface of the Moon and beyond...........more..........
