Earlier this month, a bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress that, among other important provisions to combat undue foreign influence in politics, would ban former members of Congress from lobbying on behalf of foreign governments. 

New Quincy Institute research finds that this congressional action is long overdue as the revolving door from Congress to lobbying on behalf of foreign interests has been spinning feverishly.

It’s no secret that when members of Congress leave office, they turn to one profession above all others: lobbying. Year in and year out, it’s the same story of former elected officials selling their connections and knowledge of how to make things happen (or not happen) in Washington to high-paying special interests. While this lobbying is often done on behalf of American interests — like big pharmaceutical, banking, or weapons firms — former lawmakers have been lobbying on behalf of foreign interests more and more often in recent years.

We analyzed Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) filings since 2000 and found that at least 90 former members of Congress have registered as foreign agents, representing nearly half (87) of all countries in the world, and the trend has only become more pronounced in recent years. This raises critically important questions for U.S. national interests and highlights the importance of legislation to combat the potential risks of former members of Congress working for foreign interests.........more..........

Governments, corporations, and elites have always been fearful of the power of a free press, because it is capable of exposing their lies, destroying their carefully crafted images, and undermining their authority. In recent years, alternative journalism has been growing and more people are relying on social media platforms as sources of news and information. In response, the corporate state, digital conglomerates, and the mainstream media have been increasingly supportive of the silencing and censoring of alternative media outlets and voices that challenge the official narrative on most issues.

At the recent World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, “Australian eSafety commissioner” Julie Inman Grant stated that “freedom of speech is not the same thing as a free for all,” and that “we are going to need a recalibration of a whole range of human rights that are playing out online—from freedom of speech … to be free from online violence.” Meanwhile, the Canadian government is seeking to restrict independent media and the freedom of expression via the implementation of Bill C-11, which would allow it to regulate all online audiovisual platforms on the internet, including content on Spotify, Tik Tok, YouTube, and podcast clients.

Similarly, the UK is seeking to introduce an Online Safety Bill, the US “paused” the establishment of a Disinformation Governance Board following backlash, and the European Union approved its own Digital Services Act, all of which aim to limit the freedom of speech. Attempts by elites and politicians to silence dissenters and critical thinkers is not something new. In fact, history is full of examples of “the persecution of men of science, the burning of scientific books, and the systematic eradication of the intelligentsia of the subjected people.”1

However, these current efforts to curtail freedom of speech and press by supposedly liberal governments are still somewhat ironic, given that even “the most intolerant of churches, the Roman Catholic Church, even at the canonization of a saint, admits, and listens patiently to, a ‘devil’s advocate.’ The holiest of men, it appears, cannot be admitted to posthumous honors, until all that the devil could say against him is known and weighed.”...........more........

Project Veritas Action has published a recording of U.S. Senate candidate, Krystle Matthews, talking about her desire to break multiple laws while using profanities and racially-charged language.

Krystle Matthews (D-South Carolina) is heard on the audio discussing strategies like orchestrating democrats to run as republicans for elected office: “We need some secret sleepers.”

“We need them to run as the other side, even though they for our side, we need people to run as Republicans in these local elections. This is the only way you’re going to change the dynamics in South Carolina,” she adds.

She then encourages donations to her campaign from people engaging in illegal activity, including straw donations, which are political contributions made to candidates under another name.

“I still got to struggle to raise money for my campaign, where the f*** is my black people with money? I don’t care about no dope money, give me that dope boy money! Where the duffle bag boys?  Get you – find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that s*** under they names.”

In federal elections in the United States, straw donor schemes are illegal under 52 U.S.C. § 30122

Matthews also encouraged other election crimes, such as stealing the signs of opponents. “We need some folks that can wear all black at night and take they f****** yard signs down when they- when they sleeping,” Matthews says.

She also used racially-charged language.

Britain’s Military Chief of the General Staff had just taken that position and he has already told the army they need to prepare for war against Russia in Europe.

He has told every soldier to prepare to fight Russia in a potential World War III. He has pledged to forge an Army that can beat Russia in battle and said that we must now prepare “to fight in Europe once again.” He added on  his fourth day on the job: “There is now a burning imperative to forge an Army capable of fighting alongside our allies and defeating Russia in battle.”

Karen Federighi was a registered nurse living a simple life and working at a Florida hospital just over six years ago. But Federighi’s life took a dramatic turn when her father died and left her a large sum of money.

One day in January 2016, she heard a knock and found state police at her door. Right there and then, Federighi was informed that she was a “ward of the state.” The ward of the state means a child who, as determined by the state where the child resides, is a foster child or is in the custody of a public child welfare agency.

Even though Federighi lived on her own, had a job and was supporting herself, a jealous family member got a three-person panel to declare that she was mentally incompetent and unable to handle her own affairs. Nobody on that panel even bothered to check if Federighi was employed.

Federighi lost control of all her finances, making it basically impossible for her to travel. Her car, pets and all personal possessions were confiscated. She had to beg the state-appointed guardian to give her money to buy food. Because of this, she tried to escape by fleeing, but the state police chased her down and threw her into an assisted living home.

Someone was able to help her resettle in Los Angeles, but the legal struggle to regain control of her life drained all her money. She basically lost everything........more.........

The 9th Summit of the Americas came to an uneventful close on June 10th. Held in Los Angeles, California, the summit from almost all accounts, was not only a diplomatic failure but, as award-winning journalist Roberto Lovato called it,

“a failure of hemispheric proportions and a global embarrassment for the United States and for the Biden Administration.”

In the first case the failure comes from that the Summit producing no concrete or effective plan of action to address the growing problem of persistent poverty within the developing countries; mass immigration as a result of poverty; the ever-increasing dangers of climate change; the lingering pandemic; the pernicious role of U.S. multinationals and the U.S.’s continued interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region.

The other failure comes from the unilateral and hypocritical decision by the United States to exclude Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua because of their allegedly poor human rights records and authoritarian governments.

This is as hypocritical and self-serving as it comes; the United States is in no historical or moral position to criticize, much less ostracize, any country because of perceived human rights abuses, corruption or other governmental misdeeds.

The U.S. has a horrible record in this regard: The enslavement of Africans; lynching; Jim Crow laws; government-sanctioned segregation; surveillance, arrest, and imprisonment of dissidents on false and fabricated charges, are just a few of the atrocities that the United States has carried out and continues against its own citizens. The U.S. meanwhile has a record of supporting mass atrocities across Latin America and regimes that systematically violate human rights.

The other failure of the summit was the exclusion also of an Indigenous peoples delegation, which was denied entry. The U.S. at the same time met with extreme right-wing climate-change denier Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil, whose human rights record is in fact much worse than the countries the U.S. excluded from the Summit...........more.........
