the last people's president we had was jfk. all since then have been tightening the noose;
Instead of dismantling the vast and largely unconstitutional federal machinery, the Trump administration is increasingly digitizing it.
The sales pitch is convenience.
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump launched America.gov, an AI-powered, chatbot-style portal designed to turn thousands of federal websites into a single, user-friendly interface. Or, in the administration’s newly adopted terminology, it is powered by “Super Intelligence.”
The site uses “industry-leading artificial intelligence tools,” with Google Public Sector among the technology partners behind the portal.
America.gov is eventually supposed to connect federal services through a common login and let Americans complete government transactions from one place.
The front end could be remarkably useful.
The back end deserves much closer scrutiny.
It points toward an infrastructure capable of linking vast amounts of information about individual Americans through a common identity and service layer, creating detailed profiles that could be used for scoring, surveillance, targeting, or other forms of abuse. Perhaps not surprisingly, the model perfectly mirrors the emerging architecture of “digital government” promoted by the United Nations.
The Digital Door
The White House calls America.gov a “unified digital front door” to federal services..........more.........
