Washington, D.C. on Thursday claimed oil tankers heading for Japan where damaged by Limpet mines planted by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Iran’s reply: “The U.S. and its regional allies must stop the warmongering and stop the damaging conspiracies and false-flag operations in the region.”

The second vessel targeted, Front Altair, is Norwegian-owned and half of its crew is Russian. It’s owned by Frontline, a tanker-leasing company that also has a specific recordof being helpful to Iran in continuing to ship oil despite sanctions. That Iran would target a Japanese ship and a friendly Russian-crewed ship is a ludicrous allegation. Frontline’s principal shareholder is Norwegian John Fredriksen, who made his fortune during the Iran–Iraq War in the 1980s, when his tankers picked up oil at great risk and huge profits.
