In a legitimate international rules-based order, all nations would be treated equally. Unfortunately, we do not live in that world. The US makes the rules and the rest of the world is expected to fall in line or suffer the consequences for disobeying. The ICC discredited itself more than a year ago when it accused Vladimir Putin of child trafficking. These charges were brought as part of a broader US-led campaign to isolate and punish Russia. By allowing itself to be used as a political pawn, the ICC’s credibility was destroyed. Although the indictment and issuing of arrest warrants for Bibi Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant are based on actual crimes, the odds that either man will ever be brought before the ICC to stand trial are remote.

The hysterical reaction in the United States to the ICC action, with Senators Tom Cotton and Lindsey Graham threatening to punish any country that tried to enforce the arrest warrants, reinforced the reality that the United States political class are hostages to Israel. From this moment going forward, any other action by the ICC against someone from a country where the US wants a leader punished, will likely be ignored.
