I figured it was time for a Samuel Beckett reference. Unlike his play, Waiting for Godot, where the mythical Godot never shows up, I think Putin and his General Staff are serious about a repeat performance of the Oreshnik missile. Putin briefed the members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Russia’s latest military operations and weapons:
In response to attacks of the Kiev regime to the depth of the Russian territory, over the past week, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation delivered strikes at deployment sites of the AFU long-range weaponry. In total, over the past few days, 100 missiles of different types and 466 Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles, including 90 missiles and 100 Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles used during the combined strike, hit 17 crucial objects of Ukrainian defence industry.
During a subsequent press conference at the close of the CSTO, a reporter asked Putin if Russia was going to hit “decision making centers” in Kiev. Putin responded by citing an old Russian joke about the weather, “today, everything is possible.” (The clip appears in the first minutes of Alex Christoforou’s video brief today):........more........
