I managed to snag my globe-trotter friend, Pepe Escobar, for a video chat on Friday. Pepe had just returned to Paris from the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). SPIEF is an amazing experience. I was fortunate to attend last year. It is an annual event, held in June during the White Nights of St. Petersburg. Representatives from more than 130 countries attended.

As a result of Russia’s Special Military Operation (SMO) and the ensuing flood of Western economic sanctions, Russia and China have accelerated their economic cooperation and integration. Although India, Brazil and South Africa were founding members of BRICS, Russia and China remain the major players in driving efforts to create an alternative to the US-led financial system. Countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam are expected to play a more critical role as BRICS expands in the Global South.

Trump Says US ‘Not Going To Stand’ for Netanyahu’s Continued Corruption Trial

The president again called for the charges against the Israeli leader to be dropped

On Saturday, President Trump doubled down on his call for an end to the trial against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the US was “not going to stand” for the Israeli leader’s prosecution.

“It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu. He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The president said that the trial against Netanyahu, who is also wanted by the International Criminal Court for his role in war crimes in Gaza, is a “witch hunt.” Trump mentioned US military aid to Israel, appearing to suggest he might be willing to leverage it to get the charges against Netanyahu dropped.

“The United States of America spends Billions of Dollar a year, far more than on any other Nation, protecting and supporting Israel. We are not going to stand for this,” Trump said.

“We just had a Great Victory with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the helm — And this greatly tarnishes our Victory. LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!” he added.

The post marks the second time since the ceasefire between Israel and Iran that Trump called for the charges against Netanyahu to be dropped. The Israeli leader faces three separate cases on charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, and could face time in prison.............more........

The American people are not being told why Israel agreed to a ceasefire with Iran. Yes, Israel was rapidly running out of air-defense interceptors (making it more vulnerable to Iranian attacks.) But that issue is only of secondary importance. The real reason they wanted a ceasefire was because they were getting systematically pulverized and needed to stop the bleeding fast. That’s why Israel ‘threw in the towel’ less than 2 weeks after the opening salvo, because Iran was decimating one target after another with no end in sight. So, Israel capitulated.

Of course, that is not the story we’ve been reading in the western media where there’s no mention of the vast destruction of Israeli strategic targets (by Iranian ballistic missiles); that news has been completely omitted from the mainstream coverage. But that’s why Israel persuaded Trump to find a diplomatic off-ramp; because the losses were beginning to mount and Iran was not ‘letting up.’

Did you know that it is illegal to post videos or photos of buildings that have been struck by Iranian missiles in Israel? In other words, if you publish photos of smoldering buildings, infrastructure or military bases, you will go to jail. This is how the government controls the narrative and convinces the public that they are winning a war they are actually losing.
