 canada under castro's illegitimate son is about to be getting much more dictatorial;

There is an uncomfortable debate about the point at which tyranny begets a right of rebellion. In these sensitive times, even broaching the question sounds like incitement. On the other hand, this country was founded on a rebellion to restore natural rights against a government that was a libertarian paradise compared to what we live under now.

I have always thought the critical line was free speech. If you can dissent and explain why policies must change, always use peaceful means. Though so-called “hate speech” laws in Europe are very worrying, there are still major nationalist movements.

But what can we make of this proposed law in Canada?..........more........

Israel Boycotts Hostage Deal Talks in Cairo

Israeli sources criticized Netanyahu's demand for a list of the names of Israeli hostages that are still alive

A Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo on Sunday for hostage deal talks, but Israel has boycotted the negotiations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broke off hostage deal talks because Hamas did not provide a list of all the living Israeli hostages. Sources in Israel’s security cabinet criticized Netanyahu’s demand in comments to Haaretz.

“As with the previous deal, one could assume there would eventually be proper lists of the hostages and of those no longer living. This didn’t need to be made into a deal-breaker for advancing the negotiations,” one source said.

The potential deal that’s on the table is for Hamas to release about 40 Israeli hostages in exchange for a six-week ceasefire and the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Hamas has been seeking a permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, but there were signs on Sunday that the Palestinian group may be more flexible on its demands.

A senior Hamas source told Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen that a deal could be reached soon despite “obstacles” being put in the way by Israel. “Despite these obstacles, the possibility of reaching an agreement is still viable, especially as the occupation is being dealt heavy blows in Khan Younis and al-Zaytoun neighborhood,” the Hamas source said.

Citing Arab media, Haaretz reported a Hamas source said the group could be flexible on the length of the ceasefire and the number of Palestinian prisoners that will be released. But both Hamas sources said they are standing firm on two conditions: Israel allowing displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza and the delivery of much more aid to the north.

While Hamas might be willing to accept a temporary ceasefire, a deal won’t happen if Israel isn’t participating in the indirect negotiations, which are being mediated by Egypt and Qatar. Netanyahu may be trying to sabotage a deal since it’s in his political interest to keep the conflict going, something even President Biden has reportedly acknowledged in private conversations.

So far, the US-backed Israeli slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza has killed over 30,000 people. About 70% of the casualties are women and children. Despite the massive civilian casualties and the starvation siege, the US continues to provide unconditional military aid........https://news.antiwar.com/2024/03/03/israel-boycotts-hostage-deal-talks-in-cairo/

 even ambassadors from the empire are crooked;

President Joe Biden’s ambassador to Singapore is “belittling and intimidating” embassy staff, spent thousands of dollars on unapproved items, and “missed some opportunities” to advance U.S. interests, according to a report from the State Department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG).

“The Ambassador did not hold himself to the highest standards of conduct, performance, and ethics to model integrity,” reads the February report. “Department and embassy staff told OIG the Ambassador was dismissive of Department regulations and requirements and had a difficult time understanding the limits of working within the government.”

Biden appointed Jonathan Kaplan ambassador to Singapore in November 2021; Kaplan arrived at the embassy early the next month. Previously an entrepreneur and CEO of such companies as Sega.com and Pure Digital Technologies, Kaplan was used to calling the shots.

At an embassy, however, even the head honcho must learn to subordinate his own desires to those of the president who appointed him, to get along with staffers who have been there for years and will most likely outlast him, and to navigate mountains of red tape, some of which is intended to protect taxpayers.

Unfortunately, Kaplan seems to have had difficulty with all of those.........more........

 the israeli's are waging all varieties of wars on the natives;

One part of Israel’s military operation in Gaza that’s been largely ignored by the mainstream media is the extremely sophisticated psychological war that’s being waged on the Palestinian people. If we look carefully at some of the more unusual elements in Israel’s strategy, we see the outline of plan that is clearly aimed at inflicting maximum psychological damage on its victims.

Take, for example, Israel’s repeated demand that civilians leave a particular city at a designated time. Every time this demand has been made it was followed shortly after by airstrikes on the fleeing civilians. We could easily dismiss this unfortunate action as an operational snafu attributable to human error, but that does not appear to be the case. After all, these airstrikes have not happened just once or twice, but over and over again. This suggests that it is official policy. The same is true of the seemingly random killing of civilians by Israeli snipers, (some of them waving white flags) or the so-called “indiscriminate bombing” of homes, hospitals and refugee camps, or the hyper-belligerent pronouncements by political leaders, or the massive slaughter of civilians peacefully gathering food at humanitarian aid trucks. What we’re saying is that none of these things have any apparent tactical value, rather their efficacy can only be measured in terms of how they help Israel achieve its overall strategic objective which is the expulsion of the entire Arab population. In that regard, the strategy appears to be working quite well because the majority of the population is now convinced that “nowhere is safe”. This, in fact, is the cornerstone upon which Israel has developed its psychological battleplan, to eradicate any sense of personal security prompting feelings of anxiety, confusion and hopelessness. Keep in mind, this mindset did not appear out of thin air. This mindset is the product of a meticulously-plotted and thoroughly-sinister plan to inflict maximum psychological damage on 2 million people so they will be easier to expel from their historic homeland. That is the underlying goal of Israel’s operation, ethnic cleansing. And the psychological aspect of the campaign may be more critical to its success than the relentless airstrikes or nascent ground war. This is from an article at Save The Children:

“In times of war, people usually seek refuge in safe places. There are no safe places in Gaza right now, and there is no way of reaching safety outside. With a sense of safety, the constant reassuring presence of family, some kind of a routine and appropriate treatment, children can recover. But so many children have already lost family members, some have lost all, and the violence and displacement are relentless,” Jason Lee, Save the Children’s Country Director for the occupied Palestinian territory. Children’s Mental health Pushed Beyond the Breaking Point, Save The Children.............more............

Right-wing British activist Sam Melia was sentenced to two years in prison in the UK on Friday for "intending to stir up racial hatred" by sharing various anti-immigration stickers stating "White Lives Matter" and "We will be a minority in our homeland by 2066."

From GB News, "Free speech activists outraged after man jailed for two years for running 'far-right' stickers library":

Free speech concerns have been raised after a Leeds man was sentenced two years in prison after being found guilty of inciting racial hatred with a library of stickers.

Sam Melia, 34, was in charge of an online collection of downloadable stickers that contained anti-immigration messages for activists of the “Hundred Handers” group.

At Leeds Crown Court last month, Melia was also found guilty of encouraging racially aggravated criminal damage because his collection was involved in multiple “stickering” incidents.

During the trial, jurors were told that members of the group would access the downloadable stickers that they could download and stick around their communities.

The prosecution argued that the stickers were intended to stir up racial hatred.

The far-right organiser claimed that they were intended to “start a conversation” and that he was unaware that the stickering would count as criminal damage.

Melia was charged in December 2022 after evidence showed he established and maintained the database of around 200 stickers.

Counter Terrorism Policing North East said that many of the stickers were racist and antisemitic in nature.

They reportedly contained slogans such as “We will be a minority in our homeland by 2066”, “Mass immigration is white genocide”, “intolerance is a virtue” and “they seek conquest not asylum.”

Melia said during the trial that it never even crossed his mind that he could be imprisoned for sharing stickers.

Melia's wife Laura Towler reacted to the verdict on Telegram:.........more.........

 san francisco update on how to shop there;

Fed up with the rampant smash-and-grab looting problem throughout the region, retail stores in the Bay Area of northern California are retrofitting their operations to create a more prison-like shopping experience.

At Fredericksen's Hardware & Paint in San Francisco, store owners now require shoppers to be accompanied by an employee to prevent thefts. Upon entering the store, customers immediately encounter a table barricade with signs strewn atop telling them to "please wait for assistance."

"Due to the rampant shoplifting, Fredericksen's has introduced a One-on-One shopping experience," a sign on the table reads, preventing customers from going any further into the store until an employee arrives.

"Wait here and a clerk will be right with you to help you with all your shopping needs. We're sorry for the inconvenience!"

Store manager Sam Black told local media that it had gotten "pretty bad" at the store in terms of the sheer volume of products being stolen on a regular basis.

"The dollar amounts are pretty significant with the tools," Black explained while wearing a Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) "dust" mask over his nose and mouth.

"And now we're getting smash-and-grabs where they come in and take whole displays, so it's getting kind of dangerous for the employees and the customers."

For two hours every morning and two hours every evening before closing time, Fredericksen's customers have to be accompanied by an employee while browsing the store, otherwise they will be asked to leave.

"We just want to make it uncomfortable for the thieves so they go somewhere else," Black added about the new precautionary measures...........more...........

The Braindead American Foreign Policy Establishment

Paul Craig Roberts

A source recently sent to me an article by a well-placed Russian foreign affairs expert with a note attached: “He thinks like you do.”  Not entirely, but we share some of the same concerns.

“What Is To Be Done?,” by Sergei A. Karaganov, honorary chairman of the Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, Moscow ( https://eng.globalaffairs.ru/articles/an-age-of-wars-what-is-to-be-done/ ) reflects my own views expressed on many occasions, such as that in the face of the Western world’s hostility, Russia should avoid continuing conflict by turning to the East to China and India and to the expansion of BRICS. Like myself Karaganov hopes to avoid the death of mankind in nuclear war. He writes off the pro-Western Atlanticist Integrationist Russian liberals who clinged too long to their fantasy of being an accepted part of the West.  Likely, it was this delusional collection of Russian liberals who are responsible for the failures in judgment that Karaganov brings home to the Kremlin, the very same failures that I have pointed out. The last thing Russia needs is interdependence with the West.

Karaganov points out that Russia has Asian roots dating from the days of Mongol overlords that are as strong as Western roots and that it is China that is rising, not Europe and the US which he regards as essentially washed up politically, economically, morally, and spiritually.

Karaganov writes: “Europe―once a beacon of modernization for us and many other nations―is rapidly moving towards geopolitical nothingness and, hopefully I am wrong, towards moral and political decay. Its still-wealthy market is worth exploiting, but our main effort in relation to the old subcontinent should be morally and politically fencing ourselves off from it. Having first lost its soul―Christianity―it is now losing the fruit of the Enlightenment―rationalism. Besides, on orders from outside [Washington], the Eurobureaucracy is itself isolating Russia from Europe. We are grateful.”..........more.......
