Squad member Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) has accused pharmacy giant Walgreens of racial discrimination for its decision to close stores in neighborhoods with high crime rates, including locations in her district, Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional District.

During a speech on the House floor, Rep. Pressley condemned the pharmacy giant for its decision to shut down a store on Warren Street in Roxbury, an area she noted is “85% Black and Latino.”

She cited this move as part of a worrying pattern of withdrawal from low-income communities. The radical congresswoman condemned the impact of such closures on residents who rely on the pharmacies for essential items, including medications and health supplies.

“When a Walgreens leaves a neighborhood, they disrupt the entire community, and they take with them baby formula, diapers, asthma inhalers, life-saving medications, and of course, jobs. These closures are not arbitrary, and they are not innocent. They are life-threatening acts of racial and economic discrimination,” she claimed.

Rep. Pressley, alongside Senators Elizabeth Warren (D) and Ed Markey (D), has called for a detailed explanation from the CEO of Walgreens.

“Why was there no community input, no adequate notice to customers, and no transition resources to prevent gaps in health care? Shame on you Walgreens. Having a website with talking points about health equity and underserved communities is not enough. Walgreens is a multi-billion dollar corporation that needs to put their money where their mouth is and stop divesting from black and brown communities.”

Sources have informed The Georgia Record that a GA State Senator and staff were assaulted by U.S. military members in Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta last evening, for uncovering and filming a migrant trafficking operation through the airport that seems to have been going on for some time.

The U.S. enlisted members were leading 30 military-aged migrant males through the airport facility. The GA legislative staff were assaulted when trying to ask questions, wrestled phone/ camera back.

As I write this the Biden Administration has not produced evidence that the attack on the U.S. base in Jordan was carried out with the help of Iran. Despite that lack of evidence, the usual suspects in Washington are braying at full voice for the United States to strike Iran. This is one of the key rules of the “rules based international order (aka RBIO). If you provide the weapons to a third party that attacks me then you also are culpable for that crime. Do we all agree?

Well, if it is good for the goose then it must be good for the gander. The United States supplied Patriot Missiles to Ukraine and Ukraine used those missiles to attack and destroy a Russian aircraft ferrying Ukrainian prisoners of war to a site for a prisoner exchange. If it is okay for the U.S. to attack Iran and extract some measure of revenge, then it follows that Russia is entitled by the same principle to attack the United States. Are we still on the same page?

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued its Order yesterday (26 January 2024) on the South African case against Israel involving possible genocide in Gaza.

Predictably, the coverage of the Order in the mainstream media in the West aims to spin the story in ways that are most favorable to Israel, which means minimizing or omitting those elements of the story that make Israel look bad and emphasizing that the ICJ did not order Israel to cease all military operations in Gaza.

Hardly anyone expected the ICJ to rule that Israel would have to stop all military operations in Gaza, since it is at war with Hamas, and the court cannot order Hamas to cease its military operations against Israel. What the ICJ did tell Israel, however, is that it must focus its offensive on Hamas, and not target the civilian population. After all, the genocide charge revolves around what Israel is doing to the civilian population in Gaza, not Hamas.

What really matters in the Order is what it says about Israel committing genocide. How could it be otherwise? Genocide is the crime of all crimes.

The Order clearly states that there is: 1) plausible evidence that Israel has the intent to commit genocide; and 2) there is plausible evidence that Israel is committing genocide.

In response to that dire situation the court ordered Israel to stop committing those acts that appear to be genocidal, and to preserve any evidence that bears on this matter, obviously for the trial ahead.

In short, the ICJ did not make a final decision on the charge of genocide against Israel, but said there is sufficient evidence at this point to believe there is a “real and imminent risk” of genocide, and therefore Israel must fundamentally alter its conduct of the war in Gaza.........more......
