Americans are fervently cheering for Ukraine in a war that many believe is a decisive struggle for human freedom. The intensity of our infatuation makes it easy to assume that everyone in the world shares it. They don’t. 

The impassioned American reaction is matched only in Europe, Canada, and the handful of U.S. allies in East Asia. For many people in the rest of the world, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is just another pointless Western war in which they have no stake.

The two biggest countries in Latin America, Mexico and Brazil, have refused to impose sanctions on Russia or to curtail trade. South Africa, the economic powerhouse of the African continent, has done the same. Asia, though, is where the resistance to joining the pro-Ukraine bloc appears most deliberate and widespread. This has alarmed Washington. To fight back, the United States is cracking its whip over several Asian nations.

China and India, where more than one-third of the world’s people live, are the most potent dissenters. Both abstained from the recent United Nations vote condemning Russia, and both reject U.S.-backed sanctions. There isn’t much more we can do to punish China, but India might seem more vulnerable. Soon after the UN vote, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the United States had begun “monitoring some recent concerning developments in India, including a rise in human rights abuses.” Then President Biden’s chief economic advisor, Brian Deese, warned India that it would face “significant and long-term consequences” if it does not reconsider its “strategic alignment.”..........read more..........

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Monday that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine warrants the “strongest possible military response” and that the US shouldn’t be deterred by warnings from Russia.

Pelosi made the comments from Poland a day after a trip to Ukraine, where she met with Ukrainian President Voldymr Zelensky in Kyiv. The House speaker received a warm reception from Zelensky, who presented her with the Order of Princess Olga, a Ukrainian civil decoration presented to women who make contributions to the Ukrainian state.

On Monday, Pelosi held a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw to discuss the US and NATO’s increasing support for Ukraine. Poland has emerged as one of Europe’s strongest supporters of Ukraine and recently sent over 200 Soviet-designed T-72 tanks to the Ukrainians in an escalation of NATO military aid.

On top of the military response, Pelosi said the “strongest sanctions” are also necessary “to make the case” that Russia’s war was not tolerable. “We shouldn’t do anything less because of a threat from Russia,” she said.

The US military response to the war has involved pouring weapons into Ukraine, providing Ukrainians with intelligence to target Russian troops, and training Ukrainian forces on how to use US weapons. President Biden has repeatedly ruled out sending troops to Ukraine to fight Russia directly over the risks of starting World War III, which could quickly spiral into nuclear war.

But despite the risks, ultra-hawks in Washington are eyeing ways to get the US directly involved. Rep. Redmond, WA — If you were to read the headlines in September 2020, the story of Andrea Thomas Churna likely wouldn’t have grabbed your attention. Countless people likely scanned over her story as they read that a woman was shot dead after she “confronted officers with a handgun.” It was a cut and dry case and the officer was immediately justified.

But Churna’s case was not cut and dry and her family would eventually come to learn that she was not armed and she never confronted the officer who gunned her down with a handgun. Churna had called police for help that night — thinking that she was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend — and when Redmond officer Daniel Mendoza showed up, instead of helping this woman in need, he executed her.

The taxpayers of Redmond are now footing the bill for Churna’s execution to the tune of $7.5 million. Though no amount of money will bring her back, this lawsuit is helping to expose an innocent woman’s murder and the law enforcement apparatus which covered it up and exonerated the murderer.

On the night she was killed, according to her estate’s attorney, Kim Zak, “she was worried that a stalker was trying to get her because she had had a bad experience with an ex-boyfriend before, and that’s what she was afraid of.”

Churna was a law-abiding gun owner and was in possession of a gun that night, fearing that her ex-boyfriend was going to hurt her. She told police she had a gun and because her father was a retired police commander, she knew everything she was supposed to do when police arrived.

When the officer arrived to “help” Churna, she did as police asked. She put the handgun down inside her apartment and walked out of the front door with her hands in the air. Wearing only a t-shirt and yoga pants, Churna did exactly as officer Mendoza ordered — she laid face-down in the hallway of her apartment and put her hands out.

Despite complying with all of his orders, the officer, who had been on the job for just 18-months, took aim with his AR-15 and put 6 rounds in her back, executing the unarmed, innocent mother, who called the police for help. Churna’s execution was gruesomely similar to how officer Philip Brailsford murdered Daniel Shaver as he begged for his life, unarmed in a hotel hallway.

A week ago I wrote a piece describing how Israel’s power over the US government is such that no American official will confirm that the Israelis have, and have had for years, a secret nuclear arsenal consisting of as many as 200 nukes. The situation is particularly odd in that the United States is on record as being strongly opposed to nuclear proliferation, except for Israel, and the enriched uranium that was used to create Israel’s bombs as well as the nuclear triggers were stolen and exported illegally from the US. Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself was reportedly involved in the thefts. One lawyer friend has suggested that the reason for the reticence is that under US law by way of the Symington Amendment, no assistance or aid can be given to any country that has not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Israel has not signed and also has a widely acknowledged nuclear arsenal. To preserve Israel’s billions of dollars in annual largesse from the US taxpayer, silence over what goes on when the government breaks its own laws must be maintained. Some might consider that a case of pandering to Israel rather than taking steps to enhance United States security, but when it comes to the Jewish state that argument is a non-starter in Washington as Israel always comes first.

This week I am going to describe another aspect of the Zionist state’s policy that has been invisible if one relies on the mainstream media or the chattering magpies that occupy Capitol Hill and the White House. That is the ongoing elimination of Christianity in the region where it was born being carried out by Israel and its friends. The United States has been the enabler of much of the change in spite of the prevalence of self-described devout Christians in Congress, many of whom ironically are vocal and even enthusiastic supporters of Israeli “security” policies. Killing Palestinians is all too often justified in Congress and the White House with the meaningless expression “Israel has a right to defend itself.”

American power wielded on behalf of Israel has already destroyed a thriving Christian community in Iraq while still laboring to do the same in Syria and possibly even Lebanon. At Christianity’s very birthplace, in what was once Palestine, Israel has been engaged in making the lives of Palestinian so miserable that they frequently choose to emigrate. Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion famously declared in a letter to his son that “We must expel the Arabs and take their places…” and he exploited massacres of unarmed civilians carried out by the Haganah to create terror to accomplish that end. Since that time, Israel has refused to allow Palestinians driven from their homes by the 1948 fighting to return, has destroyed more than 400 Arab villages and confiscated other Palestinian properties, has appropriated additional land and water resources for its illegal settlements, has allowed armed settlers to destroy Palestinians crops and other forms of livelihood, and controlled Palestinian movements through a network of Jews only roads and numerous checkpoints. Even Palestinians who happen to be Israeli citizens are legally and in practice treated like second-class citizens with limited rights. There are more than 60 laws in Israel that discriminate against non-Jews while Israel now legally defines itself as a Jewish state. Happy May Day! That may sound a bit odd coming from me, but I do have some fond memories of the “Workers’ Day.”

When I lived in Hungary I would go out to the Városliget (City Park) to where the Munkáspárt – the renamed Hungarian Socialist Workers’  (Communist) Party – would hold a big picnic for its remnant, serving up the traditional sör és virsli (beer and hot dogs). And all of it free or nearly free. The irony of enjoying a free lunch and a few brews from communists was just too tempting. But by and large, they weren’t bad people. Just misguided. The real criminals from the Communist era had already long ago joined the “pro-West” political parties and enjoyed cozy relations with the US Embassy in Budapest!

On to the main topic: a few reflections about the current status of the US/Russia war. Yes, I wrote it: US/Russia war. Let’s call things what they really are. In fact, this is no conspiracy theory at all. The true goal of US policy in the region was revealed this past week by none other than US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, when he clarified that the aim wasn’t really to help plucky upstart Ukraine recover its “democracy,” but rather to weaken – and hopefully disintegrate – Russia itself.

He said: “We want to see Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.”

That’s a much different set of objectives, and in fact it comes closer to what Dr. Paul asked in mid-March, “Is Washington Fighting Russia Down to the Last Ukrainian?”

That explains why the US is pouring billions of dollars in military equipment into notoriously-corrupt Ukraine – with another $33 billion on the way!

Suddenly the narrative of brave Ukraine fighting for its freedom and the sanctity of its borders has dropped, as the real goals are being revealed by those in charge. Just like the 2003 US attack on Iraq was initially sold to us as gifting democracy as a “favor” to a grateful Iraqi people. We all know how that turned out.
