the videorebel presents a synopsis of our current reality in a short form, and it ain't a good one;

Recently, one man shot another in broad daylight in New York City. He was videotaped by a surveillance camera. Not much doubt that the shooter was guilty. He was arrested for attempted murder. He was given No Cash Bail and released back into the community where he engaged in 3 more shootings before being arrested again. Fortunately, the man was a poor shot and nobody died. Depending on the police to protect you, might be a good plan if you live in a city where police budgets weren’t cut. And it would be a good plan except that the DNC platform calls for making No Cash Bail a nationwide law.
Alternatively, you could move to the Hamptons and live with the donors to the Democrat party if you wanted to be safe.
If you lived in California, you would get a third of your electricity from solar energy. That’s great except that you can’t generate electricity from solar at night and on overcast days. They are currently having rolling blackouts so you might have to get a generator from a friend and take it to your dad’s house to power all those life saving medical devices he depends on and to also run the air conditioning as he is near a heat stroke. Now the DNC 2020 platform wants the California energy model to go nationwide. A great plan except that instead of California importing electricity from Texas and Utah it will be the 48 states of the continental US plus DC importing their electricity from Mexico and Canada once Trudeau leaves office. That might not work too well if you wanted electricity all day long every day of the week..........read more.........

current events well described by mr kunstler in an entertaining and reasonably complete fashion;

It’s looking a little bit like the nation’s attention to the Republican Trump-O-Rama Fest this week will get shoved rudely aside by Hurricane Laura, currently tracking to make a direct hit on New Orleans and then beat a path up the south-central USA, drowning croplands clear into Kentucky and Ohio. The internal quarrels of the GOP will have to take a backseat to disaster relief. It might be a political blessing for the president, unless he blunders through the event George W. Bush style — remember “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job,” apropos of then FEMA chief Michael Brown, who herded thousands into the NoLa Superdome, which quickly turned into a Lord of the Flies horror show of administrative incompetence.
I know: just what America needs, another Biblical-scale natural disaster, with Covid-19 apparently fermenting in the air-conditioning units all over Dixieland, and plenty of summertime left to breed up new plagues of mosquito-borne illness in the wake of Laura’s flooding. And, of course, the hurricane season is only beginning. Such are the Jobe-like trials of America as we slide into something that quacks like collapse.
Could the country even stand another full-on political convention after the Democrats’ nauseating extravaganza last week? The nation is so marinated in agitprop, disinfo, and straight-up mendacity that all the intelligence has been leached out of population, perhaps even the will to live. A Republican convention complete with the usual showboating might deplete the remaining oxycontin supply across the land as unemployed millions, mulling over rents overdue and unmet car payments, resort to vodka, Xanax, cough syrup, and airplane glue to quell the pain induced by unbridled political bullshit. As BLM might put it: “Know whum sayin’?
Speaking of BLM, Sunday one Jacob Blake, 29, was apparently shot in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, while getting into a car. The incident inspired a night of BLM rioting and looting in downtown Kenosha, with excellent prospects for violence to spread to other cities. Mr. Blake was hospitalized and survives, so far. He was not complying with police instructions in the process of his arrest. He had been previously arrested in 2015 and charged with brandishing a gun in a barroom. Upon his arrest then, the gun was found on the floor of his car. In the latest incident, Kenosha police were responding to a domestic abuse complaint. There was an active warrant out on Mr. Blake...read more. .....

just saying;

cop activities sometimes just can't be explained;

Los Angeles, CA — As TFTP reports on a regular basis, being innocent — even an innocent child — is no defense against police kidnapping, caging, or killing you. Jamar Nicholson Green learned this the hard way when a trigger happy cop opened fire on him and a group of friends as they freestyle rapped on their way to school. Green and his friends had committed no crime and were unarmed.
The incident unfolded in 2015, but the lawsuit was only recently settled and the taxpayers of LA county will be shelling out nearly $1 million for the negligent and deadly actions of LAPD officer Michael Gutierrez.
Gutierrez — who was not in uniform at the time — saw the children freestyle rapping at the meet-up spot and noticed that one of them was holding a toy gun. This is not the same as some incidents in which the gun resembles an actual gun. This one was clearly marked as a toy with a highly visible orange barrel and did not look like an actual gun at all.
As Courthouse news reported:
Jamar Nicholson Green, then 15, and three of his friends were listening to rap music in an alley a few blocks from their Los Angeles high school. It was the group’s regular meet-up spot for freestyling and rapping before class.
Green’s friend held a plastic Airsoft gun with a bright orange tip while he was rapping and dancing in the circle.
But just as the teens turned off the music and started the trek to class, they heard multiple gunshots, which one teen mistook as gunfire from nearby gangs.......read more.......
