border situation is so outrageous it appears like something out of a

According to a new article from English-language Israeli publication The Jerusalem Post, the Hebrew-language Israeli publication Maariv has reported that diplomatic sources in the UN are assessing a US plan to conduct a “massive” airstrike on “an Iranian facility linked to its nuclear program” in response to alleged attacks on two sea vessels in the Gulf of Oman.
“The sources added that President Trump himself was not enthusiastic about a military move against Iran, but lost his patience on the matter and would grant Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who is pushing for action, what he wants,” The Jerusalem Post reports.
This news comes after public statements by Pompeo that the US is considering a “full range of options” against Iran. It also comes as 1,000 additional US troops are being sent to the Middle East to “address air, naval, and ground-based threats” there. "I would love to be able to regulate the content of speech," the California Democrat told CNN's Brianna Keilar. "The First Amendment prevents me from doing so, and that's simply a function of the First Amendment."

All US ships in port or in either the Persian Gulf or the Indian ocean would be sinking minutes after an attack on Iran. Iranian attacks on US bases with fuel air explosives would eliminate most personnel. Survivors would be captured by ground forces in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
60% of American currency is overseas. Even if America responded with nuclear weapons, the people overseas holding dollars would dump them . They would be dumped as nobody wants to get paid in the money issued by the country that lost the last war. That would double prices thus cutting permanently in half the wages and pensions of most Americans.
So if attacking Iran does not make much military sense, then why do it?

Michael Hastings was a war correspondent. And he was a resistance fighter who knew he was at war with the American government. He said the following before he was murdered:

The only recourse to this kind of behavior by the government is to say back to the government we declare war on you. When you combine this with the criminalization of investigative reporting and the application of the Espionage Act to whistleblowers, you will end First Amendment protections for the Free Press.
