 President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday, Sept. 2, proposed renaming the Strait of Hormuz the "Trump Strait" in a post on Truth Social, according to multiple reports.

The president wrote: "Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT??? Like America itself, it would be 'hotter' than ever before! Thank you for your attention to this matter." [8][12]

The proposal came as U.S. forces conducted strikes on Iranian military targets near the waterway, according to officials. The operation on Tuesday, Sept. 1, was described as a response to attempted attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against commercial shipping, a U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) statement said. Pattern of Renaming Under Trump

The proposal follows a series of geographical renaming efforts during Trump's presidency.
