The second vessel targeted, Front Altair, is Norwegian-owned and half of its crew is Russian. It’s owned by Frontline, a tanker-leasing company that also has a specific recordof being helpful to Iran in continuing to ship oil despite sanctions. That Iran would target a Japanese ship and a friendly Russian-crewed ship is a ludicrous allegation. Frontline’s principal shareholder is Norwegian John Fredriksen, who made his fortune during the Iran–Iraq War in the 1980s, when his tankers picked up oil at great risk and huge profits.

They can read of trade conventions avoiding San Francisco because of needles and excrement on the sidewalks. Such scenes are rare even in most upper-Third World countries. To the orderly Japanese, accustomed to spotless cities and responsible government, such things are, in the strict sense of the word, incomprehensible.
