I have had the privilege of having a quiet meal and drinking a beer with Pepe Escobar, where we were free to discuss latest events. Pepe graciously agreed to a virtual sit-down to discuss the intricacies and import of the recent BRICS summit. The biggest challenge for BRICS in the coming year is Brazil. Brazil is slated to chair BRICS in 2024, but President Lula’s odd behavior and failure to attend the meeting in Kazan is not sitting well with his BRICS partners. This is one of the issues I take up with Pepe.
