 i don't vote. i haven't since the first reagan 'selection' and see no reason to participate, as this individual says, in corruption, which is what it is at is base, and we saw in the last orange man 'selection'. no matter who you vote for government still gets in;

I am as deeply indoctrinated as any American. I grew up at the very zenith of America’s influence, power and success. I served in America’s Guard of Honor (82nd Airborne) and have been everything from a precinct captain to a town councilman. I voted for Reagan in my first election in ’80 and never missed an opportunity to participate as a good citizen, but then reality poked its nose under the tent flap and forced me to see what a fool I had been. Last Tuesday was our state primary and every time I drove past the Town Hall I could feel something inside of me plead to pull in and cast a vote, but I resisted.

Participation in corruption at any level is still corruption. There are enough other things in life where you must compromise your values and your instincts in order to serve something more important than yourself, especially if you have family and friends, but at least with those there is a common bond, a mutual self interest and an understanding that simply does not exist in the sphere of politics.

I was buttonholed at the dump by my local state rep the other morning. He is a local businessman and he has a small farm so in many ways we have some common ground between us. He wanted my vote in the upcoming general election in November- I didn’t tell him I passed on the primary-I asked him the only pertinent question I could think of at the moment and that was what single issue is most important to you?

It actually took him aback, I cold see him scramble internally to come up with a good answer and he tried the old everything is important ruse until I restated the question a second time.

Compromise, he said.

I asked him what he thought the odds were, in the current polarized political climate, of that happening and he said not good.

The most important issue to him was compromising with people who hated him even though there was almost no chance of making that happen, at the expense of every other important issue out there.

And therein lies the problem. No one stands for anything, not even the most important things right down at the most grassroots level. And that’s why we’re where we are. No principled men, no principles at all, just a desire to be in power at any cost. We talked for a couple of minutes longer, I encouraged him to advocate for the elimination of restrictions on hemp production- hemp is not a drug, it’s a great feed crop, drought resistant and there is absolutely no reason on Earth it should be banned except that it looks like marijuana which is already legal in every other state in New England and he said he’d look into it, but I doubt he’ll remember that any longer than any other promise he’d make.

If everyone- or at least a substantial number or people- withdrew from participation in politics it would expose it for the fraud that it is. What if they threw an election and nobody came? I realize that may be a pipe dream because we have been so conditioned to believe that the us versus them school of problem solving actually works to our benefit, but if you still think that you aren’t really in the game.....https://www.theburningplatform.com/2022/09/20/what-if-they-threw-an-election-and-nobody-came/
