don't like to post rumors but the part with iran still having lots of weapons we haven't seen yet seems probable and interesting. then there's the salt cavern potential collapse. they are huge. i wonder what is on the surface above them and what might be the result;  

If too much oil is removed, the salt caverns may collapse. We also do not know how much water is under the oil: water is pumped under the oil to make it rise (and eroding the salt walls).

Trump is playing a dangerous game. We will soon know the truth concerning our oil situation in this country. Especially the situation for jet fuel and diesel.

i was always a small world boy after hanging with the hippies plus my religious tendancies but when i began to get exposure to the dot head variety of indians i cracked. this link shows a bit of their cultural allowances. there are rivers in india where you don't know it is until some volunteers come along and clean them. there are parts of north texas that are now dot head indian. everywhere they go they sling their debris. ain't a useful contribution to this country. please excuse my prejudice;

The US/Israeli war with Iran has focused the world’s attention on oil because of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. When the war started I thought oil was just oil. Okay… I was ignorant. But over the course of the last four months I have received quite an education from a couple of different experts in the field. If you want to understand one of the key reasons that Donald Trump signed the MoU, you need to understand why the US is dependent on sour crude oil, which comes out of the Persian Gulf. I will try to make it simple — About 65% of the US refineries are built to handle sour crude while the US oil industry primarily produces sweet crude. We need sour crude to produce diesel and aviation fuel. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz means that the US will not have enough sour crude to sustain current production levels of diesel and aviation fuel. That’s the problem in a nutshell.

The United States is the largest crude oil producer in the world, pumping close to 13.8 million barrels per day. It is also, paradoxically, structurally dependent on imported crude oil — roughly 6 to 8 million barrels per day of it in recent years. The war with Iran and the months-long closure of the Strait of Hormuz exposed this paradox in the starkest possible terms: a country awash in its own oil found itself draining its Strategic Petroleum Reserve at record rates to keep diesel and jet fuel flowing. The explanation lies in a mismatch between the kind of oil America produces and the kind of oil its refineries were built to run — and the barrel now bridging that mismatch is being pulled from salt caverns with a finite structural lifespan..........more...........

Many will claim the trigger for the consideration is based on the potential elimination of the USMCA (CUSMA) trade agreement, and there is truth to that aspect.  However, the systemic issues within Canada -including energy policy, regulation and corporate tax burdens- represent the larger problem; the termination of the USMCA is the straw that breaks their back.

The domestic hurdles to manufacturing, are the bigger issues that cannot be negotiated away in U.S-Canada trade agreements.  Specifically, the low-price and stable energy policies are the core consistencies that are no longer present in Canada; that fundamental cannot be easily fixed........more............

“You may get a visit later on from people from CUFI,” Rev. Hannah Sachs, a pastor with the United Church of Christ, told staffers at one Senate office. While Sachs spoke softly, her flyers had a sharper tone. “Religious extremists want you to start Armageddon,” the text read, adding that CUFI is pushing an “Israel-first” agenda that would “further entrench U.S. military entanglement in the Middle East.”

Sachs, who went from office to office alongside progressive Rabbi Abby Stein, was there representing Interfaith Action for Palestine, a group of religious organizations that represent roughly a million Americans. Like many pro-Palestine organizations, the group has grown rapidly as Israel’s war in Gaza has dragged on. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin and other top Trump administration EPA officials overhauled a webpage explaining the pesticide office’s decision not to classify many pesticides as “forever chemicals” — often called PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.

The timing of the website’s controversial revisions corresponds with the date that pesticide industry lobbying giant CropLife America submitted a paper arguing against further regulating these chemicals.

The paper cited EPA’s revised website as support in multiple places and was submitted to the Journal of Toxicology and Regulatory Policy for review on Nov. 26, 2025, the same day the EPA’s website was revised.

“Donald Trump’s PFAS presidency is being orchestrated by former industry lobbyists and Lee Zeldin, the one cabinet member who claims to care about PFAS pollution,” said Nathan Donley, environmental health science director at the Center for Biological Diversity.

“To have the EPA administrator and his handlers directly involved in revising a single webpage is absolutely bonkers and exposes how desperately Zeldin and his industry cronies are working to hide the dangers of the ongoing parade of harmful pesticides this administration is approving.”...........more..........
