Tina Peters is out of prison. The governor of Colorado commuted her nine-year sentence last month and she walked out a free woman on Monday. The election-integrity activist had been locked up in a maximum security prison since October 2024.

“It’s a miracle, it really is” Peters told podcaster Steve Bannon on Monday. She said Colorado Governor Jared Polis pardoned 35 people and gave clemency to nine, her being one of them. The Colorado Democratic Party censured Polis over his decision to free Peters, with some Democrats calling for his impeachment.

For nearly the entire duration of his second term, President Donald Trump and the U.S. Justice Department have been applying pressure on Colorado officials to release Peters. By August of last year, the president had threatened “harsh measures” if they didn’t. In December, he pardoned her. But that was not enough to secure her release, since she was convicted on state charges.

The Justice Department also tried to get Peters transferred into federal custody, but to no avail. Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold had dubbed Trump’s pressure campaign an assault “on our democracy.” And there were few signs, if any, portending Peters’ early release.

But now, she has been freed, and a pivotal upper court decision from April appears to have played the deciding role.

When Marco Rubio was called an hour or so later by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and received the same message, the White House knew that the information was legitimate. While the US intelligence community probably cannot confirm that Iran actually does have a functioning nuke, the Pakistanis believe the Iranians do. The intercepted chat between Pezeshkian and Shariff, followed by Rubio’s conversation with Ishaq Dar, convinced Trump and his advisors that Iran was not making a hollow threat.

I took a short break last week and was only able to get out one article, but this is one that I cannot let slip through the cracks. It may be a few days old but I’m guessing that a lot of you missed it due to the holiday so here we go.

The Trump administration wants American workers stripped of their ability to claim religiously based exemptions to vaccine mandates forced upon them by their employers. Yes, you read that right.

Trump’s U.S. Department of Justice filed a brief last week before the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that employees should be able to claim medical exemptions but not religious ones. Accommodating a person’s religious exemption from a vaccine mandate is just too big of a “hardship” on corporate employers, the adminstration argued, even as it acknowledged that medical exemptions were perfectly OK and reasonable for employers to accommodate.

This is just the latest example of Trump’s non-stop kowtowing to the demands of corporate America, to the detriment of us working stiffs. He will seemingly go to any length to back the interests of big business, whether it’s offering Big Ag and Big Pharma legal protections for their poisonous foods or cancer-causing products, to encouraging them to blanket America with unhealthy data surveillance centers, or allowing them now to force people to get vaccines against their sincerely held religious beliefs, Donald Trump has become a prostitute for the billionaire Epstein class..........more.........

China and Russia have issued words in support of Iranian sovereignty and have used words to condemn the Israeli-American aggression against Iran, but have done nothing to aid Iran in withstanding the Netanyahu-Trump joint aggression against Iran.

Indeed, both the “turn-the-other-cheek” Putin and China’s Wang Yi, encouraged Iran not to fight but to submit to negotiations and world opinion.  John Helmer reports that Wang Yi encouraged Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi to bring about a full stop of hostilities.  Wang Yi, a powerful person in the Chinese government, spoke further through his spokesman: “China believes that bringing about a full stop of hostilities is of utmost urgency, a relapse in fighting must be avoided and sticking to negotiations is highly important.” In other words, China puts the onus on Iran not to respond to aggression and threats of invasion. What a great ally China is, and Putin is no better.

This statement from Wang Yi’s spokesperson demonstrates how unrealistic the Xi government in China is, as is the Kremlin. Between May 20 and May 25, DuckDuckGo’s US app installs climbed an average of 18.1% week over week, compared to the prior period of May 13 to May 18. On iPhone, growth averaged 33% and peaked at 69.9%. Traffic to noai.duckduckgo.com, a version of DuckDuckGo that disables every AI feature by default, grew 22.7% on average and hit 27.7% on May 24. DuckDuckGo even gained users over Memorial Day weekend, a period when the company says it normally sees traffic drop.
