Well it finally happened: Biden is now letting Ukraine strike Russian territory with US-supplied weapons. Escalations in nuclear brinkmanship which would have been unthinkable a few short years ago are becoming increasingly common as Ukraine loses more and more territory and runs out of soldiers to fight.

In a new report from Politico titled “Biden secretly gave Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia with US weapons” which cites multiple anonymous US officials, the article’s authors correctly describe the new White House authorization as a “stunning shift the administration initially said would escalate the war by more directly involving the U.S. in the fight.” 

This report comes shortly after an article by The New York Times titled “From Allies and Advisers, Pressure Grows on Biden to Allow Attacks on Russian Territory,” in which David E Sanger accurately forecast that “Biden is edging toward what may prove to be one of his most consequential decisions in the war for Ukraine: whether to reverse his ban on shooting American weapons into Russian territory.”......more......

Todd and Krista Kolstad have sued the state’s Department of Child and Family Services/Child Protective Services for seizing their daughter without a warrant in January. Reason for the seizure: She claims to be “transgender,” and the Kolstads would not agree to “gender-affirming care.” 

As well, the Daily Montanan reported, the couple has issued a cease-and-desist letter to the Treasure State’s GOP lieutenant governor, Kristen Juras. The letter demands that Juras stop smearing the Kolstads.........more.......

The Biden Administration is sending alarming mixed signals about its policy towards using U.S. supplied missiles to strike targets inside Russia. I know for a fact that some key people in the Russian media are confused. I received the following inquiry from a reporter with Izvestia:

Today at a regular briefing, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said the White House policy has not changed and they insist that Ukraine can succeed using weapons within its borders without striking Russian territory. Later, Politico published an article citing an anonymous source as saying that Biden secretly authorized the Ukrainians to strike Russia with the provided weapons.

What does all this mean? Why such disunity and different positions? How can such a decision be evaluated at all?

My reply was simply, “they are incompetent.” The visible chaos in the Biden Administration might be entertaining if this was a Monty Python sketch, or an old Saturday Night Live bit with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi. A major financial crisis is building, the foreshocks of which were seen last year with numerous bank failures. In 2024 so far, there has been a wave of business failures including major names like Red Lobster, Marie Callender's and others closing up shop for good.

The already hobbling economy can only take so much of this before the entire commercial real estate (CRE) sector falls off a cliff, which is what appears to be happening as you read this.

"I think that there's more to come," commented Peter Earle, a securities analyst and senior research fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research about the major hit America's banks are about to take for all their exposure to the collapsing CRE sector.

The European Union (EU) is playing dirty again – what else is new? – with new alleged threats against Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

According to Kobakhidze, a European commissioner threatened him, stating that he could end up suffering the same fate as Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico who narrowly escaped an assassination attempt last week.

In a Facebook post, Kobakhidze wrote that the unnamed commissioner technically just warned him in a recent phone call that the West is planning to take "a number of measures" against Kobakhidze if he proceeds with passing a new law to require foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) operating in Georgia to disclose their funding.

"While listing these measures, he mentioned: 'you see what happened to Fico, and you should be very careful,'" Kobakhidze wrote on Facebook about what the unnamed commissioner allegedly told him.
