The US Department of Energy (DOE) recently renamed US liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports “freedom gas.” But freedom for who? For Europe which already has a cheap and reliable source of natural gas, but is being forced to switch over to more expensive US gas under the threat of sanctions? Certainly not.
Or freedom for Russia who supplies Europe with much of its natural gas to compete openly and fairly with the United States? Most definitely not.
Or is it freedom from competition for the US?  Yes, indeed.
It is often contradictory branding that heralds various chapters of US injustice at home (under the draconian “Patriot Act” for example) and abroad, such as during the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq carried out under the dubious name of “Operation Iraqi Freedom.”
Not the Onion
So discredited have US campaigns christened in the name of “freedom” become, that few scarcely believed the US was actually, seriously calling its natural gas exports “freedom gas.” However, it is not a headline torn from the pages of the satirical newspaper “The Onion,” but rather from the US DOE itself.
In an article from the DOE’s official website titled, “Department of Energy Authorizes Additional LNG Exports from Freeport LNG,” the DOE states (emphasis added):
“Increasing export capacity from the Freeport LNG project is critical to spreading freedom gas throughout the world by giving America’s allies a diverse and affordable source of clean energy. Further, more exports of U.S. LNG to the world means more U.S. jobs and more domestic economic growth and cleaner air here at home and around the globe,” said U.S. Under Secretary of Energy Mark W. What could be scarier than the rise of a regional hegemon? Right? It conjures up an image of a giant Transformer, one who is going on the march and stomping through smaller nearby nations and imposing its will on them. Scary!

That’s the situation with China. While President Trump’s trade war that he has initiated with China gets most of the focus, the U.S. government’s aim with China goes much further than that. It goes to China’s rise as a regional hegemon, something that U.S. officials are always on the lookout for and that they will smash out of existence before the regional hegemon can become a global hegemon.

Of course, this is all empire-speak but that’s the way it is with empires. The big empire cannot afford a smaller nation get too powerful because then it would be able to compete against the big empire.

Ever since the end of the Cold War, the U.S. Empire, which viewed itself as the “indispensable regime” and the “world’s sole remaining superpower,” has engaged in actions designed to impose its will on foreign governments. These actions have consisted of invasions, occupations, coups, embargoes, sanctions, assassination, torture, secret surveillance, and alliances with dictatorial regimes.

Throughout that time, China was lifting much of its controls over economic activity within the nation, which resulted in tremendous economic prosperity among the citizenry. That prosperity naturally brought into the government large amounts of tax revenue, which enabled the Chinese government not only to build up its military but also to extend a hand of friendship around the world through loans or grants to foreign regimes and construction of large public-works projects in foreign countries.

U.S. officials felt they act to act. That was what the so-call pivot toward China was all about — to do whatever was necessary to bring China down a notch, weakening it economically and perhaps even militarily so that its role as a regional hegemon would be brought to a close. In response to what has become a nation of shameless racketeering, vivid wealth disparity, and shocking destitution on display in city streets, the party of the common man seeks remedies in the redistribution of capital. Seems more than fair to many. It’s not for nothing that they style it “social justice,” the cutting edge of an economic system called socialism — with overtones, of course, of settling racial and gender scores for good measure.
Socialism might seem to be the answer to all this unfairness and indignity. And naturally it focuses on the two activities that have turned into the worst rackets in America: higher education and health care, a.k.a. “Eds and Meds.” Both are now cruel bloated parodies of what they used to be, turning their customers into debt serfs and bankrupts, apart from their dismal failures of basic mission: to prepare developing minds for reality and to “first do no harm.”
The proposed remedy is for the national government to take responsibility for running them and making their services free to all. That would do nothing, of course, to reform the patent idiocies of the gender studies departments; or rescue the sorry victims of obesity and diabetes from their toxic consumption of whoppers, pizza, and slurpees. Those dynamics operate on feedback wheels of futility for which there is no happy ending outside of drastic changes in thought and behavior.
The Left now promises redemption from these great quandaries with the tag-team of Robin Hood and Santa Claus ushering in a new golden era of free stuff. It’s understandable perhaps, considering how desperate so many citizens of this land are, and how desperation feeds rescue fantasies. And the Left may even get a chance to try this wizardry after the next election. But it’s really not where history is taking us. America is not going to go socialist, it’s going medieval. As of this writing, journalist Ford Fischer is still completely demonetized on YouTube as the result of a new set of rules that were put in place because of some doofy Twitter drama between some unfunny asshole named Steven Crowder and some infantile narcissist who thinks the world revolves around his opinions named Carlos Maza. It remains an unknown if Fischer will ever be restored to an important source of income around which he has built his livelihood.
Fischer often covers white supremacist rallies and counter-protests, and his channel was demonetized within minutes of YouTube’s new rules against hate speech going into effect because some of his content, as you’d expect, includes white supremacists saying and doing white supremacist things. Maza, a Vox reporter who launched a viral Twitter campaign to have Crowder removed from YouTube for making homophobic and bigoted comments about him on his channel, expressed concern over Fischer’s financial censorship.
“What’s happening to Ford is fucking awful,” Maza tweeted yesterday. “He’s a good journalist doing important work. I don’t understand how YouTube is still so bad at this. We begin this week’s edition of ‘Jews, Crime and Corruption’ with the latest in the corruption scandals swirling around the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has been continuing to desperately form a governing political coalition after his surprise narrow election victory in April (1) and has subsequently failed triggering a fresh Israeli election that will be held on 17th September. (2)

This political impotence on Netanyahu’s part has only been exacerbated by the leak of the full text of criminal charges that have been formally laid at the Israeli Prime Minister’s door (3) and his wife Sara agreeing to a plea deal over separate corruption charges. (4) The resulting situation has been utilized by Netanyahu’s lawyers to push for a delay of ‘at least a year’ to the pre-trial hearing (5) which has been reportedly granted by Netanyahu’s political ally Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. (6)

The logic behind this seemingly odd decision to delay the pre-trial hearing is fairly obvious when you but know that Netanyahu’s allies in Likud and the other right-wing parties are pushing for legislation in the Knesset which would effectively granted Netanayahu immunity from prosecution for his crimes. (7)

This has caused major ructions even within Netanyahu’s otherwise loyal Likud party with multiple senior figures openly criticizing the move (8) even though the Israeli Prime Minister has had the chutzpah to claim ‘he is not doing it’. (9)

It has also triggered popular protests in the streets (10) as well as a lot of loud kvetching from the Israeli legal establishment (11) who are talking about Netanyahu triggering a ‘constitutional crisis’ with his behaviour. (12)

When you further add that there is small war going on between the Israeli Prime Minister, his lawyers and the Israeli legal establishment about whether Netanyahu’s Diaspora jewish sugar daddies can pay for his legal costs or not. (13) It is perhaps unsurprising that one of his two lawyers – Navot Tel-Zur – has quit the case after not being paid for some time. (14)

Moving on to other corruption-related news now; Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid’s wife Lihi Lapid has claimed she was fired from being a columnist at the Israeli daily ‘Yedioth Ahronoth’ because of her husband’s politics, (15) while Likud MK Gideon Sa’ar is upset that his young son is getting followed around at his pre-school by a jewish man (16) and an as yet unnamed former local council chief in central Israel has been hauled in for questioning with his wife and two jewish businessmen on suspicion of receiving bribes in return for favours. (17)

While prominent jewish businesswoman and Israel’s richest woman Shari Adison is to be charge with corruption in relation to her business activities in Kenya and South Africa, (18) Israeli pharmaceutical giant Teva is being sued by the US State Department over a multi-billion dollar price-fixing scam (19) and nine other Israeli jews – including a prominent soccer player and a former senior local council figure – have been arrested for laundering millions of dollars. Thus it should come as no real surprise that Israeli daily ‘Haaretz’ has been loudly kvetching about the scale of Israel’s ‘cesspool of corruption’ this week. (21)

Nor is this jewish corruption limited to Israel given that only this week it has been confirmed that jewish ponzi scheme billionaire and financial criminal extraordinaire Bernie Madoff’s wife will be allowed to keep all of her husband’s ill-gotten gains not previously confiscated until she dies. Jewish real estate mogul and Democrat political donor Jona Rechnitz – owner of ‘JSR Capital’ – has been found guilty of four counts of bribery, conspiracy and obstruction of justice in New York after corrupting several public officials and police officers in New York and sentenced to four years in prison. Former Temple University Fox School of Business Dean Moshe Porat is upset over allegations that he knowingly submitted inaccurate data to ‘U.S. News & World Report’ for its 2018 Best Online MBA Programs rankings in order to deceive would-be students and garner a profit for himself and Temple University. While in Canada a Hasidic jew and follower of the Lubavitch Chabad named Mark Zirkind has been convicted of being a willing drug money mule after he was stopped with $1,136,555 in his rental car in Toronto after flying in from Montreal and then promptly claimed he had so much money because he was carrying it for ‘jews fearing a new Holocaust’. Moving on to sex crimes now by way of a jewish basketball coach at a Jewish Community Center has been charged for punching a ten-year old child; (30) jewish serial sexual predator Harvey Weinstein has agreed to $44 million plea deal with a couple of his victims to avoid hard prison time. (31)
