The Justice Department this afternoon announced an 18-charge indictment against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, accusing him of violating U.S. espionage laws by releasing and publishing classified military reports he received from Chelsea Manning.

Assange had already been charged with violating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, a prosecution which was already troubling, as it was based entirely on giving Manning a suggestion on how to crack a password. Assange himself is not accused of direct hacking.

This new superseding indictment is a huge deal because it treats the publication of classified information by a media outlet as a federal crime. This is almost unheard of—the Espionage Act is typically used to punish the leakers themselves, people like Edward Snowden, Reality Winner, and most recently Daniel Hale. No journalist has been successfully prosecuted by the federal government for the act of publishing classified information (See: The Pentagon Papers).

Orlando, FL — If ever you needed an example of the immoral imbecility of America’s war on drugs and the utter lack of critical thought by those who enforce it, the story TFTP reported earlier this month of a great-grandma getting kidnapped and caged for completely legal CBD oil is it. Now, the story gets even more infuriating as the body camera shows the entirely innocent great-grandma on the verge of collapse as she is being kidnapped by police. 
As TFTP has consistently reported, the war on drugs and its enforcers care not about the innocent lives they ruin and Hester Jordan Burkhalter, a great-grandmother from North Carolina, and her arrest for CBD oil, proves this notion.
The newly released video shows Burkhalter being handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car, where she began to feel claustrophobic and said, “I can’t breathe. I feel like I’m going to pass out.” What’s more, one deputy reported that this poor woman threw up, according to News 6.
Luckily, before Burkhalter passed out completely, the deputy tasked with driving her to jail allowed her to sit in the front seat with the air conditioner on.
“The older female said she gets claustrophobic, and feels like she’s going to pass out, and wants somebody else so she can go by herself,” the deputy said on a call.
Once she was in the front seat with air conditioning on, she said she felt better and thanked the deputy.

Sperry, OK — Residents in Oklahoma are experiencing near-historic flooding this week as well as damaging wind and tornadoes. Thousands of people have been displaced and have lost everything. Adding to the extreme harsh hand dealt out by mother nature is the fact that in at least one instance, people trying to save their property or rescue others are being harassed and fined by police—for being good Samaritans. 
Tulsa and surrounding areas are being hit hard by floods this week as government issues warnings and closes roads. Tulsa County Emergency Management Director Joe Kralicek warned of that there may be an extremely dangerous situation due to a river in the area cresting.
Despite warnings and road closures, many residents are trying to get to their homes to prepare them for high water and see if their neighbors need help. This is not going over too well with police who are trying to keep people out of the area.
Flood victims attempting to help other flood victims clashed with police this week and part of this interaction was captured on video. The video was uploaded to Facebook and has caused quite the stir on there as well as people argue over who is right, the cop or the people trying to help others.
In the video, we see the cop identified as Sperry Police Officer Bobby Sappington Jr. swearing at residents receiving help, calling them “stupid” and threatening to arrest them. Exactly what happened before the video started is unclear. However, the officer’s choice of words and threats was entirely evident.
The video begins as a group of people are attempting to tow a truck from the flooded waters and they are stopped by police. Officer Sappington begins yelling at the person in the truck getting towed telling him “how f**king stupid is that!”
