 Tehran, through Pakistani intermediaries, sent messages to Washington clearly outlining the positions the Islamic Republic of Iran is not prepared to accept in negotiations with the United States, according to the Iranian news agency Fars News, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to sources, the key "red lines" were nuclear issues (Iran's right to peaceful use of nuclear energy) and the situation around the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who was visiting Islamabad on April 25, 2026, acted strictly within the restrictions imposed by Tehran and the diplomatic instructions of the Foreign Ministry.

Araghchi said after meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir that he shared Tehran's position on working for a permanent end to the war, but expressed doubts about the US's seriousness in moving toward real diplomacy.
