Monday is sort of a holiday. Judge Napolitano is taking the week off, but young Nima continues to plug away. We talked about the mess in Syria and the new signs that Turkiye’s Erdogan has his eyes set on a new incarnation of the Ottoman Empire. The afterglow of Turkiye’s triumph over Syria three weeks ago is waning and Erdogan’s big plans are running into obstacles.

Obstacle one, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) does not have a base of popular support and is comprised of foreign mercenaries with no family or tribal ties to Syria. They remain pure ideologues notwithstanding US PR efforts to dress Al-Jawlani as a Brooks Brothers‘ model.
