It’s hard to think of a more fundamental right than the right to determine what happens to one’s own body. Forcing someone to undergo medical treatment against their will violates this most basic of rights—the right to be free from physical assault. Yet even some libertarians have jumped on the mandatory vaccination bandwagon, arguing that one person not taking every possible precaution against contracting a disease constitutes an assault against another. But this line of thinking requires some very tortured logic.
To begin with, nobody has a “right” to a germ-free environment
outside of their own property (and good luck establishing one there).
Proponents of vaccine mandates assert this “right” as if it is a
long-standing social or legal norm, but it is not. Human beings have
been living among each other for millennia, and there has never been a
widely asserted right to freedom from any and all pathogens at others’
expense.
There has, historically, been a widely held and asserted expectation of quarantine in the case of exceptionally dangerous illnesses. However, this is not at all what the proponents of mandated vaccines are calling for. Quarantine is simply the demand that those who are already infected with a disease remain isolated in their homes or elsewhere until they are no longer able to infect others.
This is profoundly different from what the pro-mandate crowd demands: that those who are not infected undergo a medical procedure to minimize their chances of becoming infected. Paterson, NJ — When FBI agents launched an investigation into crooked drug-dealing Patterson Police Officer Ruben McAusland, they made a startling discovery when they seized his cellphone for evidence. McAusland and his partner, officer Roger Then, filmed themselves attacking a man in the hospital for sheer enjoyment.
“Prior to that video being discovered, we did not know about that assault,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Rahul Agarwal said in federal court in Newark on Wednesday morning.
The patient, later identified as Andrew Casciano, has since filed a $4 million suit against the city.
The disturbing video was taken on March 5, 2018 at a hospital in Paterson. The man in the hospital bed, Casciano, had just attempted suicide and was being treated. He needed help, but sadly, he got a broken face instead.
As Casciano is lying in the hospital bed, he tells the officers to “do it” before McAusland proceeds to wallop him so hard that blood sprayed from his face, twice. The blows were so vicious that Casciano was severely injured and required surgery to repair his orbital bone.
What’s more, the abuse recorded by the cops in the hospital room was only one part of Casciano’s abuse. According to hospital surveillance footage, McAusland punched Casciano in his face as he sat in a wheelchair in the crowded hospital waiting room.
After finding the video, the FBI launched a secondary investigation into this sadistic pair of cops which led to both of their arrests. On Wednesday, McAusland was sentenced to 66 months in prison for his actions. As U.S. District Judge William Walls handed down the sentence, he called the disgraced public servant nothing more than a “street hustler.”

I’d hate it when some old-time police sergeant, usually an old white guy but sometimes black, would stand, hand on hip and sigh.
And in the laconic and bitterly ironic tone of Chicago police, he’d make the big speech of five words:
“Gonna be a bad summer.”
I’d cringe, because, well, who the hell doesn’t know this?
People are outside in summer. Rich people go places. But poor people go outside. And in Chicago, guns go outside with them.
Calling it “gun violence” lets local politicians off the hook, because they want to shift the blame away from the lousy schools they’ve provided and taxes that cripple or drive away businesses so there are no jobs.
The proper name is “gang violence,” and the gangs kill people over drugs, money, over revenge, over nothing, over they just felt like it.
