Mohamed Sabry Soliman arrived at LAX on 8/27/22 on a B1/B2 nonimmigrant visa with an authorized stay through 2/26/23, but he overstayed & never left.

On 9/29/22, terror suspect Mohamed Sabry Soliman filed some sort of claim with USCIS, potentially an asylum claim, and on 3/29/23, USCIS under the Biden admin gave him work authorization, which expired on 3/28/25. Soliman remained illegally in the United States before he carried out his attack today in Boulder, Colorado.

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) did an about-face Wednesday on a proposed “equity” grading program after news of the proposal generated significant backlash from both parents and prominent Democrats.

SFUSD Superintendent Maria Su presented her proposal, which would have piloted equity grading in high schools, to the school board Tuesday evening. After that, according to Newsweek, the board was scheduled to vote on a $172,000 contract with Joe Feldman, author of the book Grading for Equity, to train teachers in his grading methods.

Faking the Grade

Before Su could make her proposal, a concerned school-board member leaked the meeting agenda to The Voice of San Francisco, which published a scathing article about the plan. John Trasviña, an attorney who served in the Clinton, Obama, and Biden administrations, wrote:

Grading for Equity eliminates homework or weekly tests from being counted in a student’s final semester grade. All that matters is how the student scores on a final examination, which can be taken multiple times. Students can be late turning in an assignment or showing up to class or not showing up at all without it affecting their academic grade. Currently, a student needs a 90 for an A and at least 61 for a D. Under the San Leandro Unified School District’s grading for equity system touted by the San Francisco Unified School District and its consultant, a student with a score as low as 80 can attain an A and as low as 21 can pass with a D...........more.......

The pointless break with China, tweeted by Trump as follows: “The bad news is that China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!” will have potentially major consequences for the US economy. However, perhaps the most lethal cross-talking of the past week relates to Russia and Ukraine, where the demands by President Donald Trump to initiate a ceasefire have been met by a Russian reiteration of its redline national security imperatives to include no Ukrainian entry into NATO, acceptance that Crimea is part of Russia, and either autonomy or incorporation into Russia of the Russian ethnic oblasts in the eastern part of Ukraine.

This has led to a considerable cooling in the bilateral relationship between Moscow and Washington and it also suggests that Trump’s apparent desire to disengage from Ukraine has now taken on a Neoconnish tone with the United States presuming that it must be the accepted hegemon which by rights should be calling the shots on what might come next. And Trump is not above issuing ill-advised new personal threats against Russian President Vladimir Putin whom he described as “absolutely crazy,” as well as a warning that even stronger Treasury Department sanctions targeting Russia are being considered. He angrily tweeted “What Vladimir Putin does not realize is that, lots of really bad things would have already happened to Russia, and I mean REALLY BAD. He’s playing with fire!” Trump’s son Donald Jr also threw into the mix a bit of Memorial Day context that well illustrates the vacuousness of the foreign policy thinking in the White House. Trump Jr, who apparently is being considered by some a possible candidate to succeed his father, tweeted on Trump Sr’s inane observation with his own take on the situation: “As we drove past the rows of white grave markers [at Arlington Cemetery], in the gravity of the moment…I also thought of…all the sacrifices we’d have to make—giving up a huge chunk of our business and all international deals.”.............more..........

Israeli forces have committed a new massacre targeting Palestinian aid seekers in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 32 people and wounding scores more, the Palestinian health ministry said on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses and local officials, Israeli troops opened fire directly on civilians gathered at two US-Israeli food distribution points in Rafah and central Gaza.

At least 31 people were killed in Rafah and one in central Gaza, while over 200 were wounded, many of them critically.

The health ministry accused Israel of using the new aid mechanism as a “trap for mass killings” and a tool for “the forced displacement of Gaza’s population.”

It added that those killed in the “massacre” had single gunshot wounds to the head or chest, indicating clear intent to kill.

In Rafah, thousands were instructed to queue some 500 metres from the US distribution point at the Al-Alam roundabout, local journalist Mohammed Ghareeb told Middle East Eye.
