Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be moved after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”

“There will be a movement of the population to protect them,” Netanyahu said.

A senior Israeli security official earlier said the operation in Gaza, called “Gideon’s Chariots,” was unanimously approved by the security cabinet with the aim of subduing Hamas and securing the release of all hostages.

The plan would be implemented after US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East next week to “provide a window of opportunity” for a hostage deal, the official added.

“If no hostage deal is reached, Operation Gideon’s Chariots will begin with full force and will not stop until all its objectives are achieved.”.........more.........

A new piece of legislation passed by the Texas House of Representatives has drawn fierce backlash for what many see as a direct assault on political speech and internet freedom. House Bill 366, deceptively framed as a measure to combat AI “misinformation”, would in reality make it a criminal offense to share altered political content; such as memes or edited videos, unless it carries a government-mandated disclaimer.

Championed by former House Speaker Dade Phelan, whose political career has been marred by controversy, the bill passed with bipartisan support.

If enacted, it would treat the unapproved sharing of such content by campaigns or candidates as a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year behind bars.

Simply spending more than $100 to promote an altered image, video, or audio clip without the required government-approved language would be enough to trigger prosecution.

What’s being dressed up as election integrity is, at its core, a disturbing attempt to police satire, commentary, and political expression.

The text of the bill prohibits publishing or distributing political advertising that includes any media “that did not occur in reality,” including content altered with generative AI, without a prominently displayed disclaimer.

The Texas Ethics Commission would be tasked with deciding exactly what this mandated language should look like, right down to its size and color.........more........

Washington conducted wars against Mexico. Against the Confederate States of America.  Against the native American Indians. Against Spain from whom Washington seized Cuba and the Philippines. Against varied Central and South American countries–remember US Marine Commander Smedley Butler, twice decorated with America’s highest honor, who said that he and his US Marines were the enforcement squad in Latin America for the United Fruit Company and the New York Banks who were exploiting Latin America to the hilt, backed up by the bayonets of the US Marine Corps.

The name of the War Department changed, but we went on to wars in Korea, Vietnam, the Caribbean, overthrowing various countries in central and South America.  Then in Africa where leaders and governments were overthrown.  Then in Yugoslavia.  Then in the Middle East where Washington eliminated Israel’s opponents for Israel. Then in South Ossetia against Russia.  Then in Ukraine again against Russia. And now the US has wars pending against Iran and China, while continuing the one against Russia by shifting the burden to Europe..........more.......
