 the empire and its owner, israel, have no moral standing on anything, any more, as mondoweiss makes clear in this reading adventure;

It has been 207 days since the beginning of the Gaza genocide. Over 34,200 civilians have been killed, including 14,500 children and 10,000 women. Over 10,000 people are still buried under the rubble. Mass graves have been uncovered at hospitals in the north and the south of Gaza. At the time of writing, hundreds of dead bodies have just been discovered in a huge mass grave at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Mothers are still trying to identify the bodies of their sons and daughters. Two thousand people are still missing.

Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has documented 140 mass and unmarked graves so far in Gaza. The barbarity by Israel is unprecedented. Among the deceased in the mass graves at al-Shifa and Nasser hospitals, some people had been stripped of their clothes and buried with their hands tied. According to World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a child is killed every 10 minutes in Gaza on average. Ghebreyesus paints a gloomy picture: “Nowhere and no one is safe.”

Almost all Gazans have been displaced, waiting for the day when they will return home as a first step towards their return to the towns and villages from which they and their parents were ethnically cleansed in 1948. Now, nothing is left. The beautiful coastal strip is no longer recognizable. Two-thirds of its houses have been destroyed; roads, hospitals, schools, universities, factories, shops, cemeteries, libraries, mosques, churches, restaurants, stadiums, farms, water wells, electricity generators…all have been erased. ........more........

 these days the empire more closely resembles a cat herding game;

We are almost five months into 2024 and Congress has yet to do one single thing that benefits the American people – but its members sure are doing a lot to uphold Jewish privilege.

A new bipartisan bill proposed by a pro-Israel Democrat and a pro-Israel Republican would create a new federal agency, of sorts, to police “antisemitism” on college campuses and universities.

Federally sanctioned “antisemitism monitors” would be deployed all across the country to surveil and spy on students, professors, and any others who dare to express opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza, for instance, or who in any way question Israel’s behavior or influence over American politics.

The First Amendment would no longer apply under the newly proposed bill, which is a product of Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Mike Lawler (R-NY).

Known as the College Oversight and Legal Updates Mandating Bias Investigations and Accountability Act, or the COLUMBIA Act, the legislation would allow the Department of Education to send a “third-party antisemitism monitor” to any college that receives federal funding. Those that refuse to comply would lose all federal funding.

“The monitor, paid for by the school, would be charged with releasing a public, quarterly report evaluating ‘the progress that a college or university has made toward combating antisemitism,'” Axios reports about the anti-First Amendment bill..........more.....

 the empire has no reverse gear, no breaks and so just keeps coming at you no matter what;

You may have heard of the protests in Tbilisi, Georgia recently. The protests are framed around what the State Dept and CIA call “Russian favored” legislation.

The Georgia legislation essentially says that domestic lobbyists, NGO’s, entities, groups and individuals who are funded more than 20% by foreign interests need to register as such.

Essentially, the USA law we call the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA), is what the country of Georgia is enacting in their own political landscape.  However, the USA is not happy about the Georgia law to disclose the source of foreign funding (most of it anti-government) because the USA (specifically the State Dept and CIA) is the source of that funding.

This Georgia political scheme is yet another U.S. led color revolution in the same hues as 2014 Ukraine.

As noted by Global News, “in Georgia, protests have erupted over a proposed law requiring organizations with foreign funding to register their activities with the government. Critics compare the bill to similar legislation used to silence opposition groups in Russia. Thousands of Georgians marched through the capital, Tbilisi, on Sunday to voice their opposition to the bill, with opposition parties and civil society groups calling for mass protests against its expected passage.” WATCH:............more.........

its about making israel free of criticism. you shall make no law abridging free speech is about the way the first amendment reads but frequently forgotten by those in charge;

The House on Wednesday passed the "Antisemitism Awareness act" to silence criticism of Jews and Israel as hate speech and empower the federal government to crack down on anti-Israel protests on college campuses.

Rep. Thomas Massie warned Wednesday on Twitter:.........more........

its times like these that display the reasoning behind the bill of rights;

House Republicans are seeking to unite their unruly majority around an evergreen conservative cause, devising a strict response to the wave of pro-Palestinian protests that have roiled college campuses across the country in recent weeks.

GOP leaders this week announced plans for new oversight investigations of elite universities where — in the words of House Republican Whip Tom Emmer (Minn.) — “pro-terrorist anti-Semites [are] taking over.” And on Wednesday they prepared to pass a bill they said would empower the federal government to crack down on anti-Israel protests on campuses by codifying a definition of antisemitism that encompasses not just threats against Jews, but also certain criticisms of Israel itself.

“We must give the Department of Education the tools to … hold college administrators accountable for refusing to address antisemitism on their campuses,” said Rep. Michael Lawler (R-N.Y.), the bill’s lead sponsor.

Lawler’s bill, the Antisemitism Awareness Act, with 61 co-sponsors — including 15 Democrats — would create “a clear definition of antisemitism” in U.S. law that the Education Department could then use to cut off funding to academic institutions found to tolerate such behaviors. The definition, however, has drawn fierce opposition from First Amendment advocates such as the American Civil Liberties Union and liberal Democrats, who say it veers sharply into the realm of restricting political views.

It’s unclear what the bill’s prospects are in the Democratic-controlled Senate or how the White House views it. Previous iterations failed to muster sufficient support in Congress, but both its supporters and opponents say the ongoing protests and a rise in antisemitism since Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel have injected fresh momentum..........more......
