the title of this entry by the saker sums up clearly the total hypocrisies of the empire. if the soviets had said any of this, and i imagine they did, it would have certainly been seen as part of the cold war mess. the current russian government has a much firmer ground on which to make such comments and unless i missed something in the presentation they're spot on. there is only the illusion of democracy here in the empire, and its fading fast;

In connection with the so called summit for democracy to be held on December 9-10 at the initiative of the US administration, we consider it necessary to make the following statement.
The organisers and enthusiasts behind this strange event claim to lead the world in advancing the cause of democracy and human rights. However, the track record and reputation of the United States, Great Britain, and the EU member states in terms of respecting democratic rights and freedoms at home, as well as in the international arena, are, to put it mildly, far from ideal.
The evidence suggests that the United States and its allies cannot and should not claim the status of a “beacon” of democracy, since they themselves have chronic problems with freedom of speech, election administration, corruption and human rights.
The editorial policy of major Western media outlets is, in fact, controlled by the partisan and corporate elites. Well-oiled mechanisms for censorship, self-censorship and the removal of unwanted accounts and content from digital platforms are used to suppress dissent in the media, which represents a gross violation of the right to free expression promoted by the West.
Social media platforms controlled by US corporations are widely used for disinformation, propaganda and manipulation of public opinion. Mass electronic surveillance by intelligence agencies and the IT corporations that collaborate with them has become a reality of daily life in Western states.
About a year ago, during the election campaign in the United States, the world saw how the archaic electoral system of that country began to crumble. The existing vote counting mechanism has revealed itself to have many weaknesses. Millions of Americans question the fairness and transparency of the 2020 presidential election. This is understandable, because the way it was conducted and its outcome involved dubious practices such as gerrymandering, multi-week mail voting, and denying observers, especially international ones, access to polling stations.
Serious questions arise from the continuing reprisals of US authorities against protesters outside the Capitol on January 6, whom the US administration and aligned media openly call “domestic terrorists.” Dozens of people who disagreed with the results of the presidential election were sentenced to prison time which is disproportionate to their opposition activities.........read more.......
rand paul may be the lead person on fauci's trail and i applaud him for his efforts. i watched a short bit of video yesterday in which fauci was one of the most arrogant individual's i've ever seen. this twitter presents some of that evidence of his attitude;
Dr. Anthony Fauci was once again the subject of a verbal assault from Sen. Rand Paul, the Kentucky Republican and physician who has frequently clashed with the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, most recently because he believes Fauci lied about funding research that likely led to the creation of the virus.
Both Paul and GOP colleague Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas lashed out at Fauci after the Biden COVID czar attacked Republican critics of his coronavirus policies stemming from an interview in which Fauci referred to himself in the third person.
“The absolute hubris of someone claiming THEY represent science. i like much of what i've seen putin say and do. he seems free of the political crap rampant here in the empire and works towards dealing with clear facts in a direct fashion. for some time he's been clear with the empire to leave russia and its friends alone which has been met with verbal aggression by our tv and political types. here is his response;

Nato countries have warned Putin against further aggression against Ukraine as foreign ministers gathered in Latvia to discuss the military alliance’s contingencies for a potential Russian invasion.
Tensions have soared following a buildup of nearly 100,000 Russian troops, as well as tanks, artillery, and even short-range ballistic missiles, within striking distance of Ukraine’s borders.
While a similar crisis played out over a Russian troop buildup in April, officials from the US and Ukraine have warned that the threat of a Russian offensive this winter remains very real because of a failing ceasefire agreement and a worsening political climate.
In his most expansive comments on the crisis yet, the Russian president on Tuesday complained of Nato’s historical expansion to Russia’s borders and warned that substantial Nato military support for Ukraine would cross a “red line” for Russia.
