robert e lee was an honorable man doing what he thought best, but these days the politically correct crowd wants to re-write history as we're told the soviets did. pcr writes here about what was below the surface in the war of succession, known here in the empire as the civil war;

Identity Politics Smears Robert E. Lee
Paul Craig Roberts
Robert E. Lee has been dead for 150 years, but the Identity Politics freaks can’t leave him alone. The latest attack on Lee is by CounterPunch music writer Lee Ballinger reviewing a one-sided and utterly false book by John Reeves with the biased title of “The Lost Indictment of Robert E. Lee.”
The lost indictment of Robert E. Lee is the 1865 indictment of Lee, Jefferson Davis, Confederate generals James Longstreet, Jubal Early, Richard Ewell, and 32 others for treason by federal judge John C. Underwood, a vehemently and vengeful anti-South Reconstruction judge, who biased the grand jury with his denunciation of the indicted Southerners as men with “hands dripping with the blood of slaughtered innocents.”
Underwood’s indictment was recognized as the worst form of political demagogy. The Commander of the Union Army General Ulysses S. Grant himself had the indictment quashed. But Reeves and Ballinger think that an indictment reflecting Underwood’s personal hatred of the South is enough to remake Robert E. Lee from a white hat into a black hat. Ballinger concludes that it is obvious that Robert E. Lee was a traitor who deserved the gallows more than John Brown.
In his fawning review of Reeves’ ridiculous book, Ballinger, either from dishonesty or ignorance, misinforms the reader that:..........https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/04/08/identity-politics-smears-robert-e-lee/

kunstler herein describes some of the madness gripping 'our' society and speaks of where it leads;

How might we account for the strange melding of neuroticism and dishonesty that has gripped America’s thinking class since the ascent of Donald Trump as an epically reviled figurehead on our ship of state? It all seems to come down to shame and failure.
There is, for instance, the failure of America’s leading economic viziers to arrest the collapse of the middle class — and with it, the disintegration of families — that more than anything produced the 2016 election result. What is a bigger emergency: the destruction of all those towns, cities, and lives in flyover-land, or the S & P stock index going down twenty points?
The choice made by the “experts” the past ten years is obvious: pump the financial markets at all costs by using dishonest policy interventions which they are smart enough to know will eventually blow up the banking system. They did it to preserve their reputations long enough to retire out of their jobs. The trouble is that the damage is now so extreme that when the time comes for them to apologize it will not be enough. They will lose their freedom and perhaps their heads.
The neuroticism and dishonesty is exactly what turned two of this country’s most sacred and noble endeavors, higher education and medicine, into disgraceful rackets. Sunday night, CBS 60 Minutes covered both bases in their lead story about how the NYU medical school recently declared its program tuition-free. This great triumph was due to an enormous cash gift from one of the founders of the Home Depot company, billionaire Ken Langone. Nowhere in the broadcast did CBS raise the question as to how the cost of a degree became so outrageous in the first place. Or how Mr. Langone made his fortune by putting every local hardware store in America out of business, which enabled him to capture the annual incomes of ten thousand small business owners and their employees. NYU’s grand gesture is just a way to paper over the shame of the University executives’ role in the college loan racket that may destroy countless lives.........https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/the-curse-of-the-thinking-class/

“Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them.”

“A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer.”

reality in a few words;

reality in a meme, whether you like it or not;

here's your daily serving of the 'thin blue line' protecting you, in this case, from those having seizures;

Indianapolis, IN — In the American police state, treating your seizures with a plant deemed illegal by the state can and will get you arrested. But as the following case illustrates, simply having seizures is enough to get someone arrested and brutalized as well.
As TFTP often asserts, when your only tool is a hammer, everything around you, even medical emergencies, begins to look like a nail. The family of a victim who was brutalized by police for suffering a medical emergency last year is now speaking out to confirm that very assertion.
A family is outraged after watching the footage of their son and brother being savagely beaten by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers during a medical emergency.
The victim, Christopher Knox, who is an epileptic, suffered a seizure while shopping in a Speedway gas station in March of 2018. For those unfamiliar with epileptics, often times during and after seizures, they can become severely disoriented.
“Officers might react to a person’s dazed behavior, inability to obey directives, and combative response to restraint as actions that the person can control,” the website for the law enforcement accreditor CALEA reads. “In fact, when a person with epilepsy has a seizure, he or she is physically unable to control their actions.”
When IMPD Officer Maurice Norris confronted the severely disoriented Knox, Knox didn’t immediately respond to his commands, so force was escalated. According to police, Knox assaulted a cop and a customer inside the store. However, his family says he was likely just flailing around as a result of the seizure........https://thefreethoughtproject.com/police-mistake-mans-seizure-beat-him/
the writer is a vietnamese who lived in america and many other places in the world, and titles this piece: america as religion. he makes many interesting points;

I just got off Skype with Kevin Barrett. Interviewed, I sat in the dusty office of our dustier plastic recycling plant. Truck horns and roosters crowing provided background noises. Though we covered many topics, I want to expand on just one, that of America as a religion.
Unless you’re a reactionary, assbackward asshole, you believe in progress, as in history definitely has an aim, and that’s to reach the Messianic Age, where there will be no more war, all races will be harmonious and equal (except one will be a tad more equal than the rest, because more circumcised and chosen) and Yahweh will beam his benevolence on your sorry ass, even if you’re goy as fuck. “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice,” so just keep on tearing down as you forge forward, comrades, and if you want a passing grade, don’t even try to argue against Moses, Marx and George Soros. All progressive visions are derived from Jewish messianism.
All of history, then, is a mere prologue and foreskin to the Messianic Age, just beyond the blood red horizon, and since America is the chest-thumping most advanced country on earth, not just with gadgets but ideas, America is the vanguard of this religion of progress. Though more threadbare by the second, this is a fitting mantle, since America has become Israel’s humongous schwanz.
America has even landed men on the moon six times, 225,623 miles away, without a glitch! Yes, it couldn’t rescue hostages from Iran or pretend to assassinate Bin Laden in Pakistan without crashing its helicopters and leaving a mess of charred corpses behind, but moon landings were much easier, you moron, because there were no Muslims there to spook the astronauts! As with the Holocaust and 9/11, we have photographic proofs! How can you argue with such impeccable photos, with the aperture, shutter speed and ISO just right? America hasn’t returned simply because the technology fell through the crack, and can’t be found again, even with a broom with an extra-long handle..........http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/?p=186418
