I don’t share the interest many have in the reported mass shootings.
However, there are wider issues associated with the shootings, and I do
find these issues interesting. For example, mass shootings are a
relatively new occurrence. I believe the first was in 1966 at the
University of Texas when a former US Marine who was enrolled as a
student shot a number of people from the university’s clock tower. What
caused this breakdown in moral behavior? We can’t simply say that the
shooter became unhinged or insane. There have always been such people.
Had the Marine been on active duty in Vietnam and experienced mass
shootings of Vietnamese? Did he decide to bring the horror inflicted by
Americans on Vietnamese home to Americans? Did student protests against
the Vietnam war in which he was at risk make him feel unappreciated?
I don’t remember if there were answers provided in 1966. I
understand people’s frustration with the lack of answers that is often
the case in events today. For example, readers ask me, as if I know,
why the New Zealand government has criminalized having a copy of the New
Zealand shooter’s manifesto. I do not know, but a good guess is that
the New Zealand government wants to control the explanation and does not
want any competition from the shooter himself.
Remember the 2016 Nice, France, truck attack on Bastille Day when a
white delivery van was reported to have run over a large number of
people. The only video we had of the truck’s progress was a fuzzy one
that showed little taken at a distance from a hotel balcony by the exact
same person who provided the only video of an earlier reported terror
attack in Germany. That the same person happened to be present with
camera ready for back-to-back terrorist events in two different

Only instead of Rod Serling’s imaginary “land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas,” we’re trapped in a topsy-turvy, all-too-real land of corruption, brutality and lies, where freedom, justice and integrity play second fiddle to political ambition, corporate greed, and bureaucratic tyranny.
It’s not merely that life in the American Police State is more brutal, or more unjust, or even more corrupt. It’s getting more idiotic, more perverse, and more outlandish by the day.
Somewhere over the course of the past 240-plus years, democracy has given way to idiocracy, and representative government has given way to a kleptocracy (a government ruled by thieves) and a kakistocracy (a government run by unprincipled career politicians, corporations and thieves that panders to the worst vices in our nature and has little regard for the rights of American citizens).
Examples abound.
In Georgia, political organizers posted a “Black Media Only” sign outside a Baptist Church, barring white reporters from attending a meeting about an upcoming mayoral election.

The WikiLeaks Twitter account has announced that it has high level information that the organization’s founder Julian Assange could have his political asylum the Ecuadorian embassy revoked for him to be arrested by the British government within hours. We need to be ready to shake the earth should this happen. We need all hands on deck for this one.

The pretext that is being used is almost irrelevant, because it has nothing to do with truth or reality. Assange has been a target of the US-centralized power establishment ever since WikiLeaks began publishing authentic documents exposing the malfeasance of its leaders a decade ago, and strings are being pulled around the world to funnel him into its jaws. Utterly shocking body camera footage was released on Thursday showing what led to one officer’s arrest and felony assault charges and the suspension without pay of two others. What started over an alleged noise complaint quickly turned into a gang-style beat down of several innocent men.
On March 16, police were responding to a call over a loud party. When officers showed up, however, there was no loud party and all the lights inside the home were off. This wasn’t good enough for the cops, so one of them kicked the door into the home and ripped the occupant out onto the street and began beating him as he doused him in pepper spray.
For several moments, officers hold the man down as one of them kicks him repeatedly.
In total, three men were were all forced out into the street where they received this gang-style attack by uniformed assailants.
One of the most flagrant clips from the released footage shows officer Luke Deer shoving one of the men as he stood there with his hands in the air.
