Some may be happy to learn that the US Senate didn’t pass the ‘anti BDS bill’ on Tuesday. But a look at the vote reveals that America’s politicians are fully removed from the American ethos of freedom. Fifty six  mostly Republican Senators, just 4 shy of the 60 needed to pass the bill, voted to enact a law contrary to the Constitutional right to Freedom of Speech as granted by the 1st amendment. The defeated bill included a provision to allow states and local governments to punish Americans who boycott Israel. This was an astonishing and nearly successful attempt  to legislate crude government interference with freedom of speech in its most protected form: political speech. The fact that such a bill made it to the floor of the Senate confirms that the American political establishment is an occupied zone committed to silencing opposition to Israel and its lobby.

Democrats did not necessarily oppose the anti BDS bill on first amendment grounds. Instead, most Senate Democrats have vowed to block all legislation in the Senate until it votes to end the government shutdown. Trump has closed the Federal government until Congress accedes to his demand for $5.7 billion to begin to erect an Israeli style ghetto wall on the Mexican border.

If the president is so desperate to defend America’s southern border, perhaps he should consider not giving military aid to Israel, even if just for two years. I stopped voting after Reagan grew the government by 30%.  If he couldn’t stem the malignant growth of the federal government I reasoned, no one could.  Like any parasite government would grow until it killed off the host.  I did vote for Ron Paul in the two republican primaries but I knew it was merely symbolic.  Not only was he not allowed to win, if he came close they would have killed him, like Jack Kennedy, another reason I gave up on the evil that is voting in a corrupt democracy.

We can’t have nice things in America for a lot of reasons. Crazy campus Leftists have criminalized conservative speech. Federal judges protect illegal aliens. Christophobes wage War on Christmas. But another reason: the decriminalization of petty crime because the punishment “falls disproportionately” on blacks. Hence the increasing toleration of fare evasion on America’s subways.

The latest municipality to jump (so to speak) on that train: Washington, D.C. City council just voted 10-2 to decriminalize fare evasion, the local news radio station reported, because “criminal penalties disproportionately affected African-Americans.” Unsurprisingly, the two votes against the idea came from whites, Jack Evans and Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (right) who correctly noted the insanity of the change without addressing its racial justification:

“When you don’t pay your fare at Metro, you’re stealing from Metro,” argued D.C. Council member Jack Evans, who is also Metro board chairman. What we’re doing is decriminalizing stealing.”

Citing an NBC Washington video in which fare evaders were caught on camera, Mendelson said, “I did not see poor people who were unable to pay. I saw younger people … who were quite brazenly jumping the turnstile. These were folks who were deliberately — without evidence of inability to pay — avoiding paying the fare.”

According to Webb’s research, Microsoft may incorporate Newsguard tech in the browser of an upcoming version of its operating system, which is used by 1.5 billion people around the world. No word if Apple plans to do the same. 
From deplatforming to demonetization, the state and its corporate partners are deadly serious about removing any high profile news from the internet that dispels or challenges its propaganda.

Of course, it would be far easier to simply remove offending websites and social media platforms from internet domain servers—immediately sending all disfavored content down the memory hole—but under the rubric of soft fascism (as spelled out by Bertram Gross), this approach is eschewed in favor of incremental behind the scenes efforts and a propaganda effort that sells us the fairy tale alternative media is driven by evil Russians (who also flip elections), under the direction of the “New Hitler”, Vladimir Putin. 
A decade ago, I predicted the state and corporations (the essence of fascism, otherwise known as corporatism) would move to kill alternative media. I was wrong about the timeline, as the state often moves in glacial fashion. 
It may be another two or three years, but eventually they will manage to wipe out most alternative media, or media that does not follow official narratives. This doesn’t mean every media outlet or blog at odds with the state will be expunged, only those with high traffic and demonstrable influence.
