 This time, it’s the ATF reforms designed to do away with many Biden-era infringements and make life easier for gun owners, buyers and sellers that have garnered the ire of 23 Democrat attorneys general, who have joined forces to warn that the Trump Administration’s rollback of what they call “common-sense firearms regulations” will “endanger their communities.”

In a series of comment letters submitted between July 6 and August 6, the multi-state coalition, led by New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport and New York Attorney General Letitia James, outlined the “risks to public safety” posed by these “massive deregulatory changes” and urged the ATF to abandon or revise many of the proposals.

In a news release announcing the comment letters, Davenport characterized the reforms, part of the response to President Donald Trump’s executive order on the Second Amendment, as something nefarious and dangerous.

“ATF’s plan to deregulate firearms will put New Jerseyans at risk and erode the tremendous gains we have made in reducing gun violence over the past few years,” Davenport said in a news release announcing the comment letters. “In addition to endangering families simply going about their days, this effort to eviscerate sensible gun regulations will also imperil law enforcement and first responders, who regularly put themselves in harm’s way to protect or rescue us.
