just this far and i can see how this has been the situation for longer than i've been alive;
We are not a constitutional republic, because in order to be one, the constitution must be applied, respected and all rights therein honored. No one in America believes that’s true of the United States today. Because it’s not true. Judges, congress and the president operate largely unbridled, even when their actions are patently absurd. This is demonstrated by the liberal use of impeachment powers by whoever gains the majority in the House. There typically is not enough momentum in the Senate to convict, so it’s little more than a censure today.
Almost every president could have been impeached under these conditions of lawlessness, but there was a time when the gravity of such an act was recognized and few would go along with the hotheads who introduced it. Not so, now. But that’s all just indicative of a government operating outside its charter. They all do it, they all break the laws, the cops, both local and federal, don’t care about some words on paper they know no judge or DA will enforce.
We are not a serious nation, but then, no one is. None of the current nations in Europe give a damn about their traditional roots, their Magna Carta or any of it. It’s sort of a process of reducing all humanity to the lowest possible denominator. No one in government, on any level that I can see, wonders how the people will take some onerous law or mandate or directive. They just swallow it.......more............
