Trump’s world famous yet extremely disingenuous “MAGA” mantra will ultimately prove to be his undoing. Why? Because you cannot “Make America Great Again” to the detriment of the rest of the world, which exactly what Trump is trying to do. For Trump, every move the USA makes needs to be a win-lose proposition—America wins at the expense of the foreign trading partner(s). He operates like an old school robber baron and kleptocratic oligarch who always has to have the upper hand even if it means brazenly using coercion and/or force.  And because of his nakedly despotic MO, America is more hated by the week.

Yes, various incompetent U.S. administrations down through the decades have negotiated unfavorable trading arrangements and/or created highly imbalanced trade deficits, but that was always done with ulterior motives. In other words, those apparently ‘bad deals’ were permitted as a means of compensating for other specific gains or political advantages that the United States wanted to receive in return.  Just take a close look at how the World Bank and International Monetary Fund have taken over whole countries over the years to understand the often clandestine deals that were made in think tanks inside the Beltway and corporate board rooms across the USA................more..........
