i don't understand. when i was a school boy i was told we had a government with checks and balances which talking heads still try to sell me, but things like this show the lie of it all;

If Americans have one Achilles’ heel, that will most assuredly bring about its downfall, it is this:

They lack compassion.

The vast majority lacks empathy.

In fact, they are so self-absorbed and selfish as a group of people that there simply is no time or space to care about anyone but themselves.
