when you are silent in the face of evil, intentionally evil, or passive, you provide energy for them to continue. for example every time i am forced to wear a mask for medical attention, i remind all of them that its only a compliance device and that whatever they want to keep contained in their mask won't be due to the size of the particles and the weave of the mask. its basic microbiology. the wife tells me i shouldn't because the nurse or whoever doesn't control the policy but i say to leave any oppression unaddressed just adds to it. and it adds the potential of a question to the back of their mind. the quotes below serve to reinforce that;
Niemoeller said, “First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me.”
When you choose the lesser of two evils, always remember that it is still an evil. Max Lerner
