The House passed a bipartisan package of children’s online safety bills in a 267-117 vote Monday, advancing legislation that supporters say would better protect children online but critics warn could threaten privacy and free expression.

The bipartisan Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act, championed by its sponsors as a way to protect children online and hold major technology companies accountable, would require new safety features and parental controls on online platforms, restrict the use of minors’ data for targeted advertising, require age verification for pornography websites and establish new rules governing AI chatbots and online games.

The House package reflects a narrower approach than the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), which was previously approved by the Senate.

House lawmakers removed provisions, including a controversial “duty of care” requirement for online platforms, that supporters said would have more aggressively regulated technology companies.

The KIDS Act, which was introduced in March, gained traction as social platforms face increasing legal pressure to add more safeguards to ensure children’s safety. Rising scrutiny of platforms’ ability to protect children online has fueled a wave of age-verification laws around the world.

The House Armed Services Committee OK’d the bill in early June with Section 224 — the measure that would give Israel carte blanche access to national-security secrets.

Massie and Khanna vowed to fight the imprudent measure. They did. And lost. The Rules Committee decided their amendment needed no public debate.

The Israel Lobby has donated almost $1 million to the GOP contingent on the committee.

He switched off the Purim War Against Iran, like a housewife turning off her gas stove. The wily Iranians followed Trump’s U-turn, ensuring it’s actually done. The most important result of this debacle: the frog of Israel that tried to compete with the ox of Iran had burst, as Aesop predicted. Israel really believed in his own fairy tale of superiority, of its world hegemony, of its control over the US, until reality came into the picture and slapped its face. Israel has actually been forced to cease killing the Lebanese people. This is a great historical turning point, giving us yet another opportunity to wake the world from its Hollywood fantasy of eternal Jewish might and eternal Jewish victimhood.

Pusillanimity Brings War, Not Peace

The naive and gullible men in the Kremlin were deceived by the Alaska agreement just as they were by the Minsk agreement.  If they had read Trump’s Art of the Deal they would have learned how Trump was going to manipulate them.

It was totally clear to me in 2014 when Putin sat stupidly on his butt and permitted Washington to overthrow the Ukrainian government and install an anti-Russian Washington puppet that Russian inaction was leading to war. When Putin was forced into conflict with Ukraine by Washington and Europe eight years later, it was totally obvious that Putin’s slow-moving, restricted Special Military Operation would provide Washington and NATO ample time to get more and more involved and that the conflict that Putin thought could be limited to Donbas would widen and widen.  And that is precisely what has happened.  

Putin and Lavrov have  said that Washington/NATO intend to turn Ukraine’s conflict with Russia into a war on Russia by the West.  Despite finally acknowledging the reality that has been completely clear for 12 years, Putin still refuses to use the decisive force necessary to bring the conflict to a victorious end and stop the widening of the conflict.  Putin is focused on gaining another kilometer in Donbas while Ukrainian drone attacks deep inside Russia increasingly disrupt Russian life and energy production and result in civilian casualties.

Having by his own inaction permitted the Ukraine conflict to widen out of control, Putin told military cadets in June that Russia’s nuclear forces will be strengthened and the fighting ability of the military improved in expectation of a war with Europe.  ............more...........
