According to Neilsen data, last Thursday’s total views on Fox News came in at 2.6 million – of which 375,000 were in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, Mediaite reports. In comparison, MSNBC only had 596,000 / 71,000 25-54 viewers and CNN brought in 419,000 / 91,000 25-54.

Fox News was up some 60 percent year over year for the day, while MSNBC and CNN were down 23 and 40 percent – respectively. In prime time the news was even more bleak for CNN and MSNBC as they shed 30 percent and 54 percent of their viewers, respectively, compared to the same day last year. MSNBC host Alex Wagner had her lowest-rated show ever in terms of total viewers, while Chris Hayes’s show brought in its worst numbers since May of 2016.

On Friday, seven MSNBC shows recorded their lowest Friday ratings for the year. While Fox averaged 4.4M viewers Wed-Fri in prime time and 701,000 in that key demographic, MSNBC had just 808,000 total viewers for the same period (90k in demo), and CNN had 611,000 total average prime time viewers (159k in demo).

No wonder CNN’s Chris Wallace is about to explore podcasting.

In what may be a foreshadowing of his new job in cutting government spending, Elon Musk is calling for the defunding of National Public Radio.

Musk’s declaration was sparked by a video of the organization’s CEO which you can see below.

Conservatives have long been calling for the defunding of NPR, which is an explicitly leftist organization. Why should conservatives be forced to fund a non-profit that hates them?

Let me state up front that I am no “Trump fan-boy.” But I am sure that what I am about to write will lead some of you to accuse me of that. So be it. When you listen to my interview earlier today with Danny Davis, I was quite disturbed by the news (still unconfirmed) that Trump planned to appoint Marco Rubio as Secretary of State. Rubio is a lightweight on all counts and not a deep strategic thinker.

But then came tonight’s stunner — Trump named Fox News host, Pete Hegseth, as his nominee for Secretary of Defense. Wow!! Hegseth, apart from having served in the Army, has no experience managing a gargantuan bureaucracy like the Department of Defense. What the hell is Trump thinking? I think it is simple — he is installing loyalists in key positions who are not compromised by or beholden to the military industrial complex or the defense lobbyists in DC. I know one of those lobbyists (we used to be neighbors) and I guarantee you he is livid tonight. Trump is sending the Deep State an unmistakable message — I will be running the show.

Hegseth also is not a creature of one of the many Washington “think tanks,” which are funded in large measure by the military industrial complex and the Zionist lobby. Trump did not select Hegseth because the former Army officer has a great plan for reforming the bloated, corrupt U.S. defense complex. He chose him because Hegseth is expected to follow orders and do what Trump wants. Anyone want to bet that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who were announced to oversee the Department of Government Efficiency, will be taking a big whack at the DOD?..........more........

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich (above) has told his department to prepare for the annexation of the occupied West Bank in the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the US elections.

Speaking at a meeting of his far-right Religious Zionism party, Smotrich said that Trump’s victory provided an “important opportunity” and that “the time has come to apply sovereignty” over the West Bank.

According to a statement from his office, Smotrich said he had instructed Israeli authorities overseeing West Bank settlements “to begin professional and comprehensive staff work to prepare the necessary infrastructure” for extending sovereignty.

As well as finance minister, Smotrich has a role in the defence ministry overseeing illegal settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Smotrich and other far-right politicians in Israel have hailed Trump’s triumph in the presidential elections last week, hoping he will give the green light for Israel to officially annex Palestinian territory captured in 1967.

Israel has already annexed East Jerusalem and Syria’s Golan Heights in unilateral moves that have never been accepted by the international community but were recognised by Washington during Trump’s first term in office.........more......

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Sunday published an editorial accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli military of “conducting an ethnic cleansing operation” in northern Gaza.

The piece cited the paper’s military correspondent, who, after touring the area with Israeli forces last week, concluded that the region looked as if it had been struck by a “natural disaster”.

The editorial emphasised that the devastation was a “premeditated act of human destruction.”

It reported that a senior officer, identified by the Guardian as Brigadier General Itzik Cohen, the commander of the 162nd Division, told reporters: “My task is to create a cleansed space…We are moving the population for its protection, in order to create freedom of action for our forces.”

When asked if the military was executing the ‘Generals’ Plan,’ which includes ethnically cleansing the area and killing any Palestinians who remain, the officer denied knowledge of it, insisting that the army was “acting on the instructions of the [Israeli military’s] Southern Command and chief of staff.”

He added that his division has been directing humanitarian aid away from the “cleansed zone” in northern Gaza toward the south.......more.....
