When it comes to what’s happening in Venezuela, facts matter. No one claiming Maduro stole the election has provided any proof. Not a single piece. So, I’ve put together some irrefutable facts about what the CIA have done in the past in the region and are certainly doing today.
After all, the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.
- Brazil: The CIA supported the 1964 coup that overthrew President João Goulart and installed a right-wing military dictatorship.
- Bolivia: The CIA was involved in a coup in 1971 that toppled President Juan José Torres.
- Chile: The CIA played a role in the 1973 coup that overthrew President Salvador Allende.
- Argentina: The CIA supported the 1976 coup that ousted the democratically elected government and ushered in a brutal military dictatorship.
- Ecuador: The CIA conducted covert operations in the country between 1960 and 1963.
- Panama: The CIA supported the 1989 invasion that overthrew General Manuel Noriega.

My old friend, Paul — a retired Navy SEAL — sent me the link to an article by Antonio Graceffo, US-China Tensions: A Modern ‘Great Game.’ Here is Graceffo’s thesis:
This new Great Game between the United States and China, much like the original version, is about controlling strategic territories and influence. However, the scope today is far greater, as US-China tensions spill into the fields of economic, technological, and military power, with both nations vying for influence across key regions like the Indo-Pacific and Africa. China is forming economic alliances through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and BRICS. Meanwhile, the United States has established countless bilateral trade and defense agreements with countries across the Indo-Pacific and Europe, while also leading groupings such as NATO, NORAD, the Quad, the Five Eyes, and AUKUS.
Graceffo, to his credit, admits that, “the United States has established 750 military bases or facilities in 80 countries around the world.” While conceding that, “China only has one overseas base, in Djibouti, and a permanent naval facility in Cambodia.“
But he follows this up with this odd claim, “However, the PLA also operates spy stations in Cuba and Myanmar, as well as a space station in Argentina.”
So what? The United States operates spy stations in almost every country in the world, including China. If you are in China’s position, this is a one-sided game. The United States enjoys a lopsided advantage in electronic spying, at least for now..........more........

An American woman was killed Friday in the occupied West Bank, the State Department said. Two witnesses said the woman was shot in the head by Israeli forces who had opened fire.
The woman, Aysenur Eygi, a 26-year old volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian activist group, had been attending a protest against Jewish settlement expansion in the town of Beita when she was shot, her colleagues said. Copies of her passport that circulated online said she was born in Turkey and the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that she was a citizen.
The Israel Defense Forces said it was “looking into reports that a foreign national was killed as a result of shots fired in the area.” The statement said that Israeli forces in the area of Beita, in the northern West Bank, “responded with fire toward a main instigator of violent activity who hurled rocks at the forces and posed a threat to them.”
