Milwaukee, WI — In January 2018, Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown was running into a Walgreens store when he was approached by a lone police officer. That one officer then called for backup and within minutes, nearly a dozen cops had this innocent man, surrounded, assaulted, tasered, and arrested because he had incorrectly parked.

Now, because of the incompetence and brutality exhibited by these officers, the taxpayers will be shelling out $750,000 to Brown in the form of a settlement. In a rare move, the the settlement proposal also includes an admission that Brown’s constitutional rights were violated when officers took him to the ground, tasered him and arrested him. If this proposal is approved it would be the first time in Milwaukee’s history that the city ever admitted fault in a police misconduct case — despite paying out tens of millions in settlements.

According to jsonline.com, in just the last five years, police misconduct has cost Milwaukee taxpayers at least $31.6 million in legal settlements, forcing the city to borrow money to make the payouts amid an ever-tightening budget.

Since his senseless attack by police, Brown has used the attention to seek positive change in policing. After police killed George Floyd, Brown organized thousands of people in peaceful protests over the summer.

In June, as jsonline.com reports, he looked at a 7,500-person crowd outside Fiserv Forum in June and told the marchers they were “making something great happen, something positive happen, something that’s heard around the world.”

The head of state was asked how the international organizations, which watch the Belarusian elections very closely, will react to the situation with the US elections. “How will they react? Observers stand behind the wall and try to see something through windows. They paste window with cardboard, while the police stand by. In some states these observers are thrown out for making a step to the left or to the right. This is all we can say about observers’ work there. In our country they stand leaning over the table watching vote count and criticize us afterwards,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state noted that he is looking forward how Western countries and the OSCE will react and whether they will demand that the U.S. hold a new election, as they demand Belarus do it. “Let’s see how the OSCE will react to this, and let’s wait and see the German parliament, as I said yesterday, demand a re-election in the United States. Today we see that the re-election is warranted based on all kinds of irregularities, even domestic legislation violations,” the president stressed. “It is very interesting to see how the Germans, French, these super democratic countries, and Anglo-Saxons and others will demand re-election.”

“I can say this already now: they will do nothing, they will be afraid to do anything,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Very few are willing to to face the reality that the U.S. economy was on life support long before Covid came on the scene. In a nutshell:

1. Every layer of the economy is vastly over-indebted, and entire swaths are zombies, unable to service their existing debts without borrowing more at lower rates of interest.

2. Productivity has stagnated for decades as capital has been incentivized to seek productivity-killing monopolies and cartels, and socially-economically destructive speculations rather than investments that increased productivity in a socially beneficial manner.

3. Earned income/wages have been in a 50-year decline as a percentage of the economy. In effect, $50 trillion has been shifted from productive work to unproductive speculative gains. (see chart below) The Top 1% of Americans Have Taken $50 Trillion From the Bottom 90%, And That's Made the U.S. Less Secure (time.com)

4. This enormous shift from productive labor to unproductive speculation has mortally wounded our society and economy. When corporations borrow billions from the Federal Reserve's limitless spigot of free money for financiers and use this money to buy back their shares, this enriches the 0.1% who own the majority of shares and the corporate insiders with immense stashes of stock options.

This kind of financial sleight of hand doesn't add a single job or a single dollar of productive investment. Yet this is precisely what the Fed's free money for financiers incentivizes.

5. This tremendous concentration of wealth in the hands of the few has further concentrated power in the hands of the few. Ours is now a completely pay-to-play simulacrum of democracy in which the few buy political influence and power........read more......

For many years, I’ve described a period that I envisaged to be in the future, in which much of what was considered “normal” would change dramatically.

The borders of some countries would change. The types of governments that ruled over them would change. In some cases, they would morph slowly into new entities; in others they would change suddenly.

Much of the wealth in the world would change hands. Enormous fortunes would be made by a few, whilst the life savings of countless others would be lost.

Large numbers of people would be on the move. Many would be refugees, hoping to escape poverty and/or oppressive governments. Others would be opportunists – those who look for the positives in periods of global upset.

Above all, this would be a period of change.

For most people, this would one day be looked back upon as previous generations looked back on the World Wars or the Great Depression – a time of devastation, in which many people lost all or most of what they had had.

But for some, especially those who foresaw the change, this period would one day be looked back upon as the time when their fortunes changed dramatically for the better.

Until recently, those who have predicted this dramatic change have been largely derided as “doom-and-gloomers” or “end-of-the-world crackpots.”

And it has been difficult to argue against this view, as regardless of how accurately we might have described what was headed our way, it was impossible to put a date on the onset of the crisis.

I became convinced of its eventuality in 1999, due to economic and political developments that would result in collapse at some point.
