On a December 2010 episode of Fox News’ Freedom Watch, John Bolton and the show’s host Andrew Napolitano were debating about recent WikiLeaks publications, and naturally the subject of government secrecy came up.

“Now I want to make the case for secrecy in government when it comes to the conduct of national security affairs, and possibly for deception where that’s appropriate,” Bolton said. “You know Winston Churchill said during World War Two that in wartime truth is so important it should be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies.”

“Do you really believe that?” asked an incredulous Napolitano.

“Absolutely,” Bolton replied.

“You would lie in order to preserve the truth?” asked Napolitano.

“If I had to say something I knew was false to protect American national security, I would do it,” Bolton answered.

“Why do people in the government think that the laws of society or the rules don’t apply to them?” Napolitano asked.

“Because they are not dealing in the civil society we live in under the Constitution,” Bolton replied. “They are dealing in the anarchic environment internationally where different rules apply.”

“But you took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and the Constitution mandates certain openness and certain fairness,” Napolitano protested. “You’re willing to do away with that in order to attain a temporary military goal?”............read and watch more........

here is a good example of why citizens are loosing patience with cops;

Buffalo, NY — Filming the police is entirely legal in every state. However, all too often, we will see police officers overstep their authority and arrest, attack, and assault innocent people for the constitutionally protected act of documenting their behavior in public. Ruweyda Salim learned about this the hard way this week when she was assaulted, called a derogatory name, and subsequently stalked and harassed for doing nothing other than legally filming the police — from over 20 feet away.

When Salim noticed nearly a dozen police officers begin to surround a man outside a 7/11 on Sunday, she decided to practice her first amendment right to film the police.

As the video shows, Salim is far enough away not to be considered a threat and is not talking or saying anything to the officers who have an unarmed man completely surrounded. Despite breaking no laws, harming no one, and not interfering in any way, Lt. Michael DeLong walked up to Salim and got in her face.

The officer, who is clearly larger, wearing a bullet proof vest, carrying a weapon, and surrounded by 10 of his fellow cops, singled out this young woman in what can only be called an act of intimidation and bullying. But Salim refused to be bullied.

“We have cameras, too,” DeLong says as he walks up to threaten and intimidate Salim.

“OK. Get away from me. Can you get away from me?” Salim says.

I must confess that interventionists have given me a case of foreign-policy whiplash given the constantly changing array of official enemies of the United States on which Americans are supposed to focus their attention. One day it’s China. The next day it’s Russia. Then Iran. Venezuela. North Korea. Syria. The terrorists. The Muslims. Illegal immigrants. ISIS. Al Qaeda. Drug dealers. The Taliban. My neck is hurting!

Today, the attention is back on Russia. According to the New York Times, unnamed U.S. “intelligence” sources are saying Russian “intelligence” has “secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing coalition forces in Afghanistan — including targeting American troops.”

In addition to my case of foreign-policy whiplash, I’m now suffering from a case of reverse déjà vu!

When it was the Soviet Union doing the invading and occupying of Afghanistan, the U.S. government was helping the Mujahideen to kill Soviet soldiers. U.S. officials were doing this by supplying weaponry to those who were opposing the Soviet invasion and occupation of the country...........read more..............
