in case you ever thought the empire to be a good looser read the following;

The US/al-Qaeda regime-change onslaught failed so now posturing US politicians will do everything they can to make sure Syria goes through the same sanctions hell Iraq did 1990-2003:
On Tuesday, the House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation to impose new sanctions on the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad and its allies, and those who do business with them. The move comes a month after President Donald Trump’s announcement to withdraw troops from Syria, and as some Arab governments are thawing relations with the Assad regime, which has all but secured a military victory after nearly eight years of war. The measure has been passed by the House twice in previous sessions, and a companion bill currently remains pending in the Senate.
House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Eliot Engel, D-N.Y., reintroduced the standalone version of the Syria bill, H.R. 31, which passed under fast-track procedures. On the Senate side, the bill is one provision rolled into a foreign policy-related package called the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act, with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio as a lead sponsor. Senate Democrats blocked the bill — designated as S.1, which symbolizes heightened importance — on the grounds that Congress should reopen the government before considering unrelated legislation.............https://russia-insider.com/en/congress-pass-sanctions-against-syria-reconstruction/ri26055
it never fails to amaze me how 'consumers' flock to get in line behind the effort to attack the 'latest threat' and here as point man on this is an admitted zionist liar, as the empire once again violates all of its oaths, like the un charter agreement, for example, or the constitution;

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on countries to "pick a side" on Venezuela, urging them to back opposition leader Juan Guaido in a Saturday speech at the UN Security Council in New York.
"Now, it is time for every other nation to pick a side. No more delays, no more games. Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you're in league with Maduro and his mayhem," Pompeo told the Security Council.
Russia accused Washington of plotting a coup attempt and had tried to stop the meeting requested by the United States. "Venezuela does not represent a threat to peace and security. If anything does represent a threat to peace, it is the shameless and aggressive action of the United States and their allies aimed at the ouster of the legitimately elected president of Venezuela," Russia's UN ambassador, Vassily Nebenzia, told the UN Council.
On Friday, neoconservative Elliott Abrams was appointed US special envoy for Venezuela.
“Elliott will be a true asset to our mission to help the Venezuelan people fully restore democracy and prosperity to their country,” Mr Pompeo said, according to Reuters.
“It’s very nice to be back. This crisis in Venezuela is deep and difficult and dangerous,” Abrams said Friday. “And I can’t wait to get to work on it.”..........https://www.commondreams.org/news/2019/01/26/trumps-axis-evil-pompeo-bolton-abrams
found caitlin on a different site speaking much truth and reality about hurricane trump and venezuela;

Ever since the Trump administration announced that it was no longer recognizing the legitimacy of the elected government of Venezuela I’ve been arguing with people on social media about this president’s brazen coup attempt in that country. The people arguing with me in favor of Trump’s interventionism are almost exclusively Trump supporters, with leftists and antiwar libertarians more or less on my side with this issue and rank-and-file centrists mostly preferring to sit this one out except to periodically mumble something about it being a distraction from the Mueller investigation.
I engage in these arguments not because I enjoy fighting with strangers on the internet, but because it helps me get an idea of what propaganda narratives have been seeded throughout various political sectors. Take a stand online and you’ll quickly have people running up to you saying, in effect, “My media echo chamber told me I’m supposed to disagree with you about that,” and spelling out what they’ve been told to believe.
I have not received a single robust argument in favor of Trump’s Venezuela interventionism, but I have received a whole lot of really, really stupid ones. Here are the top five most common and most astonishingly idiotic of them:...........https://www.lewrockwell.com/2019/01/no_author/top-5-dumbest-arguments-defending-trumps-venezuela-interventionism/

saint lincoln is up there in the pantheon of those who must never be doubted and saint obama is vying for inclusion. i once bought the saint lincoln thesis but in recent years have also been seeing the point of those who have a different take on his reign;

If you’ve listened to me for any length of time, chances are you’ve heard me refer to the three-by-five card of allowable opinion.
As long as you stay confined to the range of opinions on that card, you’ll be in good standing with the media and the establishment.
It’s fun to observe someone who’s never once strayed from that card confront ideas that are nowhere near it. Their brains genuinely do not know what to do.
A spectrum of political options running from Mitt Romney to Hillary Clinton are all their brains are programmed to handle.
This happened recently with a 3 x 5 card fellow named Elie Mystal.
He was outraged that Josh Blackman, a professor at South Texas College of Law, asked students on a constitutional law exam to consider some of the actions of Abraham Lincoln during the so-called Civil War, and imagine a scenario in which articles of impeachment are brought against a President Lincoln who survived the attack by John Wilkes Booth.
Blackman asks students to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments raised in these hypothetical articles.
Mystal is outraged at the exam questions, and proceeds to launch into a victimology routine: these questions are “racist” and disadvantage black students, etc........https://www.lewrockwell.com/2019/01/thomas-woods/law-prof-pilloried-for-exam-question-on-lincoln-and-the-constitution/
