Many modern Americans now realize how criminal their ancestors were. We’ve had a great effort by the Empire to secure Israel’s absolute pre-eminence in the Middle East through a whole series of destructive intrusions in the region; The “Arab Spring,” the reverse-revolution in Egypt, smashing and dividing Iraq, Libya, and the artificially-induced civil war in Syria, providing weapons, money and refuge in an effort to destroy a stable and relatively peaceful state. The Paris attacks may have been blowback from all of this and more.

In one recent period Palestinians killed 15 Israelis, and Israeli forces and civilians killed more than 110 Palestinians. More than half of those killed were shot at Palestinian protests.

Palestinians aren’t going away. They’ve demonstrated remarkable endurance, yet almost every Israeli act since its inception, supported by America, has been violent efforts to make them go away. Recently Israeli politicians advocated sending Palestinians to concentration camps and shooting them on sight. Israeli citizens attack Palestinians in their homes and on their farms, destroying crops and wells. Israel regularly destroys Palestinians homes.

Zionists are political, not necessarily Jewish. Jews are racial/religious divisions. I have no ‘qualms’ with Jews. As a Quaker, I was raised not to discriminate based on anything but a persons/nations actions.

An important part of Israel’s population is American, and they carried over to Israel the same short-sightedness, arrogant belligerence which characterizes the Empire, so much so that Israel may legitimately be viewed as a Middle Eastern American state rather than a separate country.

Israel’s lack of genuine independence is reflected in its constant demand for huge subsidies, its need for heavily-biased American diplomacy to protect it in the UN, and on its dependence upon American arm-twisting and bribes in any number of places, Egypt’s generous annual American pension requiring certain behaviors being one of the largest examples.

The line is; Israel gets to use violence and Palestinians don’t. Israel has a “right, even an obligation to defend itself” but you never hear such words about Palestinians. Its; Israel has human rights that must be respected right now without qualification, while Palestinians have aspirations that need to be negotiated. The official view of the Empire is Israelis have the right to defend themselves, which means they can shoot anyone, so long as they pretend the innocent civilian deaths were accidental or the fault of some terrorist using them as a human shield, or they say the victim was a terrorist.

Freedom of speech and thought is like virginity. Either you have it or you don’t. If you’re only free to say what a mythically majority approve, you don’t have free speech, you have permitted speech.

You’re not getting the “news” nightly on your TV; you’re getting as much info about reality as you would from a blind man describing the elephant part he’s holding as being the nature of the critter.

The Shutdown

For nonessential federal employees the shutdown is a vacation with deferred payment, yet we're expected to weep in solidarity because they're being inconvenienced. Welcome to the real world. We Deplorables work without pay for the equivalent of several months of every year to fund DC's parasitic bloat. And we have to show up every day.

No one in DC cares when they export or destroy whole industries and we lose our jobs and our homes. But when their personal cash flow is temporarily interrupted we're to believe it's a national tragedy. Some do worthwhile work. But let's face it, many are otherwise unemployable leeches. Others are doing the country a service by staying home. Still others are employed by departments that should be abolished outright.

Their sense of entitled well being is understandable. DC hasn't known hard times in anyone's lifetime. Example: in the years following the credit crash of 2008 the free-for-nothing money spigot gushed all over DC and their coastal cronies but never quite made it anywhere else. They're still trying to explain why that's the way it should be if banks suddenly don't trust each other. Huh?

DC is hardly less an aristocracy than was the Kremlin. The Soviet Union fell because the ruling class, the "vanguard of the people's revolution", somehow ended up with the limousines and country houses while the people stood in lines for bread and cheese. After WikiLeaks documents provided irrefutable evidence that the Democratic National Committee had violated its charter by rigging its primary for Hillary Clinton against Bernie Sanders, what should have happened is this:

• The DNC apologizing profusely to the public for violating the promises it had made to the electorate.
• Massive, sweeping changes to bring transparency and public accountability to the DNC’s inner workings, including a complete overhaul of staff and leadership.
• If at all possible, a complete do-over of the primary vote.
• A dedication to attacking Trump’s right-wing policies from the left, showing the public that a progressive approach works better than a conservative one.

If this had happened Americans would not only be living in a vastly saner political landscape, but Trump probably would not have won in 2016. The U.S. State Department allegedly sent a cable to the Lebanese Embassy in Washington that warned them against inviting Syria to the Arab Economic Summit in Beirut that is scheduled to take place this week, Al-Akhbar reported on Wednesday.
According to Al-Akhbar, Lebanon was not only warned against inviting Syria to the Arab Economic Summit, but Washington also threatened sanctions against Lebanon if they participate in any reconstruction efforts.
The latter (U.S.) threatened Lebanon with sanctions if it participated in the reconstruction of Al-Sham (a reference to Damascus),” Al-Akhbar claimed.
“The U.S. position was relayed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, in more than one way,” they continued.
The alleged confidential cable allegedly read:

“We urge Lebanon and all Arab League member states to refrain from sending an invitation to Syria. We also urge Lebanon not to take any steps that contribute to securing the financial interests of the Syrian regime. For instance, making investments or sending funds for reconstruction. Any financial or material support for the Assad regime or its supporters may be subject to American sanctions.”

As they have, repeatedly, for the last two and half years, they shook the earth with a “bombshell” story proving beyond any reasonable doubt that Donald Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the presidency from Hillary Clinton, or at least committed an impeachable felony in connection with something to do with the Russians, or Ukrainians, or other Slavic persons … which story turned out to be inaccurate, or not entirely accurate, or a bunch of horseshit.

This time it was BuzzFeed’s Jason Leopold, “a reporter with a checkered past” (i.e., a history of inventing his sources) who broke the “bombshell” Russiagate story that turned out to be a bunch of horseshit. Leopold, and his colleague Anthony Cormier, reported that Trump had directed his attorney, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about plans to construct a Trump Tower in Moscow, thus suborning perjury and obstructing justice. Their sources for this “bombshell” story were allegedly “two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter.”
