life in gaza is hard and becoming rare;
A 12-year-old Palestinian girl who said she only wanted “the war to end” was killed in an apparent Israeli shelling of a children’s ward in a Gaza hospital, the aid group Defense for Children International - Palestine said in a post on social media.
Dunia had lost a leg in an attack that killed her parents and two siblings, and was recovering in the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis when the ward was struck by an Israeli tank shell Sunday night, Defense for Children International Palestine said in the post.
The brave young woman had been featured in a moving video calling for an end to the war. She told an interviewer for the charity Defense for Children International that she hoped someone would take her abroad so she could receive a prosthetic leg. And she said she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up.
“I want only one thing,” she said in the video, made during the week-long ceasefire at the end of November, “for the war to end.”
She sat in a hospital bed, quietly recounting the moment when her life changed forever.
“When they shelled us with the second missile, I woke up and was surrounded by rubble,” she calmly tells an interviewer for the charity.
“I realized that my leg had been cut off because there was blood and I had no leg. My father and mother were martyred, my brother Mohammed and my sister Dahlia, too,” she said calmly..........https://themessenger.com/news/gaza-dead-girl-lost-leg-peace-israel-khan-younis-hospital-strikes
