A senior writer for Politico still has his job after he strongly suggested on X that anyone who investigates Somali welfare, daycare, and other fraud in Minnesota might be shot if they “knock on doors.”

Senior legal affairs reporter Josh Gerstein was apparently referring to journalist Nick Shirley, who exposed so-called daycare centers that didn’t have any children under their care. Shirley’s probe, Gerstein wrote, might “intersect” with “stand-your-ground laws.”

But Gerstein erred twice in the post, critics observed. Minnesota is not a stand-your-ground state. And the fraud does not involve “home daycares.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement took the imprudent X post seriously, claiming that Gerstein urged violence against federal agents who might also “knock on doors” in attempting to track down the African fraudsters................more........

That is utterly ridiculous… Russia does not need a new terrorist attack to motivate it to intensify attacks on Ukraine or to terminate the Kabuki theater of finding a viable peace plan. You need only consider the previous Ukrainian-sponsored terrorist attacks that caused far more death and destruction then the latest failed drone attack targeting the official residence of President Putin. I was hoping that 2025 would be the year Americans woke up and realized they’re being played — unnecessarily divided and played, one group off against another.

I was hoping that they would break out of the Fox News/CNN/MSNBC matrix. I hoped they would see the world as it really is, not as the warmongering neocons and neolibs in Washington want us to see it — with a foreign boogieman lurking around every corner.

Many did wisk the sleep from their eyes enough to see that the biggest enemy is our own government and its corporate “partners” in Big Tech, Big Pharma, Big Food, and Big Agriculture. But not nearly enough. Too many remain in a media-induced trance focused on the wrong things, on issues that have already been decided at the public-policy level, or on problems that spark lip service and public outrage from politicians who have no intention of fixing them.

Take the issue of Somali daycare fraud as just one example that’s been in the news a lot the last two weeks. You might see a few dozen Somali migrants charged, maybe even go to jail for a short time, but those with power who enabled the Somalian fraudsters to pilfer the taxpayers over many years will never be brought to justice. Same with election fraud. Same with the Epstein affair.
