With the benefit of hindsight, we’re all geniuses. The Wall Street Journal article, Inside Ukraine’s Daring Operation Spiderweb Attack on Russia (published December 8, 2025) details the operation’s planning as a 18-month effort starting in late 2023, with significant activities ramping up in 2024. While the piece emphasizes the full timeline’s secrecy and oversight by President Zelenskyy and SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk, it highlights 2024 as a pivotal year for infiltration, testing, and logistics preparation. I am more interested in what it does not state outright — i.e., that Ukraine relied heavily on Western intelligence, meaning the CIA and British MI-6, in planning this operation.

The attack took place on June 1st, 2025 and, despite a flood of Western propaganda touting it as a tremendous success, it was a tactical and strategic failure — i.e., it did not damage Russia’s ability to continue its offense in Ukraine. But here is the question of coincidence… Two weeks later, Israel launched the decapitation attack on Iran, which also failed to topple the Iranian government and cripple the Iranian military, who promptly retaliated. Do you think it is just a coincidence that Israel and Ukraine used similar tactics — i.e., launching drones from within Russia and Iran to attack strategic targets? I do not.

The Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations we see taking place are a deception. They are seeking to give Ukraine a breather, a “Minsk 3” type of deal, if you get what I mean. The goal is not a permanent peace, but a temporary ceasefire that gives Ukraine a chance to regroup, reorganize and rearm.

NATO military committee chairman Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone recently hinted that NATO may need to make an offensive “pre-emptive strike” against Russia. Putin’s response left no room for confusion. He said this will trigger World War III. He said Russia is not looking for war with Europe, but if the Europeans insist on attacking Russia, his forces are ready to make a robust defense of the homeland.

We also see China gearing up. Moving more vessels into position around Taiwan. They also announced they are moving AI-powered robot soldiers into the border area with India.

All of the nations appear to be gearing up … preparing for war.

Reportedly, the core agenda was an ‘update’ of the U.S. ‘talking points’ – one that is said to have incorporated further (unspecified) input from the Ukrainians and Europeans.

Despite the redrafting, the talking points reflect a U.S. agenda that is little changed in essence from earlier Witkoff talking points. It is, for example, again framed around a ceasefire (rather than a wider political agreement, as Russia demands); on de facto border recognition (rather than de jure recognition of the four oblasts now constitutionally incorporated into Russia).

Some possible Ukrainian concessions in the Donbas region seemingly were discussed too, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine that would be coordinated with European allies; and finally, ‘restrictions’ on Ukraine’s military capabilities (somewhat laughably ‘capped’ at 800,000 men – rather than the 2022 Istanbul ball-park figure of some 50,000-60,00).
