In an effort to return common sense, practicality and affordability to the American consumer base for automobiles, President Trump announced the elimination of Joe Biden’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for manufactured cars and trucks.

Under the auspices of the “Green New Deal”, the Biden administration mandated ridiculous quotas for EVs and demanded lower power combustible engines, or pay a climate change tax. These CAFE standards resulted in a surcharge for large vehicles, large engine autos and SUVs, and essentially bifurcated the auto consumer into those who could afford to pay for efficiency and stability, and those who could not.

“We’re officially terminating Joe Biden’s ridiculously burdensome, horrible actually, CAFE standards that impose expensive restrictions and all sorts of problems, gave all sorts of problems to automakers,” President Trump announced from the Oval Office. “It put tremendous upward pressure on car prices, combined with the insane electric vehicle mandate. Biden’s burdensome regulations helped cause the price of cars to soar more than 25%,” President Trump said.............more...........

Anyone who still believes the Trump administration’s newly scheduled wars in Latin America are in any way related to stopping drugs from killing Americans is not paying attention to the full spectrum of policies coming out of this administration.

Instead of listening to Trump’s many bombastic public statements in a vacuum, let’s examine the record of his actions.

This administration has an obsession with drugs. Even known harmful drugs have been embraced and promoted by President Trump in his first and second terms.

There is now plenty of evidence that Trump’s Operation Warp Speed project, which he placed under the direction of former pharma executive General Gustav Perna and the U.S. military, led to mega-deaths in the United States and the world. Speed came at the cost of any valid clinical trials, with needles entering arms under Emergency Use Authorization with only two months of safety data on the FDA’s books. When it comes to experimental new medicines or treatments, you don’t gamble with people’s lives. There are reasons why it takes 10-15 years to get a vaccine through the approval process, but Trump was willing to make that gamble. After a five-hour negotiation session on Tuesday, the Russians rejected the proposal, which was revised multiple times by the time it got to Moscow. And just before those talks, Russian head of state Vladimir Putin told reporters that his country is ready for a fight with NATO if that’s where the war is heading.

Putin’s comments follow those by NATO officials who openly suggested they were thinking of attacking Russia. Italian Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone said NATO may take a “more ‘aggressive’ approach to deter Moscow from continuing its campaign of drone incursions and cyberattacks in Europe,” according to reports.

On Tuesday at an investment forum in Moscow, Putin was asked if Russia was preparing for war with NATO. He said Russia didn’t want to fight Europe, but if it came to that, the Kremlin’s strategy will be different from the one it’s using in Ukraine:

We are not planning to go to war against Europe. I have said that a hundred times. But if Europe wants to wage a war against us and suddenly starts a war with us, we are ready. There should be no doubt about that. The only question is if Europe suddenly starts a war against us.… Europe is not Ukraine. In Ukraine, we are acting with surgical precision. You see my point, don’t you? It is not a war in the direct, modern sense of the word.
