Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson acknowledged in an interview last week that the West is waging a “proxy war” against Russia in Ukraine and argued NATO hasn’t done enough to achieve victory.

“We’re waging a proxy war, but we’re not giving our proxies the ability to do the job. For years now, we’ve been allowing them to fight with one hand tied behind their backs, and it has been cruel,” Johnson said on a podcast produced by The Telegraph.

Johnson played a key role in sabotaging peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in the early days of the conflict to ensure the war would continue. While visiting Kyiv in April 2022, then-Prime Minister Johnson urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to negotiate and said even if Ukraine was ready to sign a deal with Russia, its Western backers were not.

Ukrainska Pravda first reported Johnson’s message to Zelensky and said his position was that of the “collective West.” David Arakhamia, a Ukrainian official who led short-lived negotiations with Russia, later confirmed that Johnson “came to Kyiv and said that we would not sign anything with [the Russians] at all, and let’s just fight.”.........more.......

Outgoing US President Joe Biden has gone back on his word and pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, who was convicted earlier this year of breaking federal gun and tax laws. In June, the younger Biden was convicted of three felony charges related to the purchase of a revolver in 2018. According to the prosecutors, he lied on his gun-purchase paperwork that he was not addicted to or using illegal drugs. In a separate case, the younger Biden pleaded guilty to three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses in September. The sentencing for both convictions was supposed to happen this month. In a statement issued on Sunday evening, the president argued that his son was prosecuted “selectively and unfairly” because of his familial ties. He claimed that “people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form.”

In this episode of On Target, Larry Sparano and I discuss the assault on the Constitution by the Speaker of the House, Majority Leader of the Senate, and president-elect Donald Trump.  The assault weapon is the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which has already passed the Republican House.  Senator Schumer is attempting to avoid a stand alone vote on the Act by attaching it to the defense appropriations bill.  That way the  senators can say they voted for the defense bill and not against the First and Fourteenth Amendments.  

The Antisemitism Awareness Act is the Israel Lobby’s response to the university protests against Israel’s slaughter of the Palestinians.  The bill conflates Israel with Jews, defines Jews as “protected persons,” and removes accreditation and federal financial support from universities that fail to prevent student protests against Israel and Jews in general.  In effect it prohibits criticism of Jews.  Criticism is undefined. In practice it will include anything to which Jews object.

The Act is a violation of the 14th Amendment which requires equal protection of the law.  The Antisemitism Awareness Act creates status-based privileges for a specific group that are denied to others.  The Act also violates the 1st Amendment’s protection of free speech........more.........
